One of Phasmophobia's First-Ever Maps is Getting a Remake Very Soon

Kinetic Games has announced that the long-awaited 6 Tanglewood Drive remake for Phasmophobia will finally be released on March 3, 2026. This means that Phasmophobia players don’t have long to wait until one of the game’s first-ever maps gets a big overhaul, although the developer is looking to keep many of its secrets hidden until the release date.

Phasmophobia was first released into Early Access in September 2020, and in the years since, has received tons of new content from developer Kinetic Games. From new ghosthunting equipment to entirely new maps, the developer has done a great job of making the best use of Early Access possible to improve the game prior to its full launch. But it has been well over five years since that initial launch, and at this point, many of the game’s original maps feel dated compared to what Kinetic Games is capable of now. The developer has recently been going back to those early maps to bring them up to date in time for the game’s release. Phasmophobia’s Grafton Farmhouse rework launched in August 2025, preceded by the Bleasdale Farmhouse rework a few months earlier in March. Next up on the agenda is 6 Tanglewood Drive.

In a blog post on the Kinetic Games website, the developer revealed that Phasmophobia‘s 6 Tanglewood Drive rework is going to launch on March 3, 2026. It reiterates that the intention of this recreation “is to bring all our original locations up to the quality we know both Phasmophobia and our team are capable of,” taking an approach “to give it a much more ‘lived-in’ feel than the other houses in-game currently.” Kinetic Games says that it was important to keep the house’s core design “as familiar as possible,” so it has avoided any huge layout changes. The main change comes in the kitchen area, which has removed the looping spot that made it easier for players to stay alive during hunts. The developer has eased player concerns in this announcement, revealing that “there’s still excellent locations within the walls of 6 Tanglewood Drive to loop your ghost.”

Kinetic Games promises “a much richer personality” in the rework of 6 Tanglewood Drive, teasing some environmental storytelling on the remade Phasmophobia map that will be left for players to piece together for themselves. To bring it all to life, the developer revealed that new assets, props, animations, and audio features have been created, which will “bring it in line with the vision we’ve always had for it.”

As 6 Tanglewood Drive is an original Phasmophobia map, Kinetic Games knows that any rework will cause debate amongst players. It’s one of the most popular maps in the game, and is extremely accessible for newer players thanks to how small it is. It finishes its blog post by reiterating its belief that it has “only improved on what makes the map so special.”

The previous plan was for the Tanglewood Drive rework to launch alongside the Player Character Update, which missed its initial release window after being planned for Phasmophobia‘s 2025 roadmap. However, Tanglewood Drive will now arrive first, with the update now split into two. Kinetic Games says that the Player Character Update “will not be far behind.” The game is now well on the road to 1.0, with a full release finally planned for 2026.
