The One Piece franchise isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and September 17 is yet another swing by Luffy, meaning fans should be sure to pencil that date into their calendar. Of course, between the beloved anime and the One Piece Netflix live-action series, Eiichiro Oda’s epic pirate anime is arguably bigger today than it’s ever been. That means every new announcement carries a little extra weight because even the search for the One Piece can’t last forever.
Earlier this year, Oda suggested that One Piece would end in about 5 years (so around 2031) as the anime is in its final saga and working through wrapping up its biggest mysteries, final story arcs, and so forth. The torch will no doubt continue on in some form, as One Piece is more than just the anime.
One Piece: Grand Gourmet Makes an Epic Return at Tokyo Game Show 2026
Since Bandai initially revealed a new One Piece game during Summer Game Fest activities, the publisher has been incredibly quiet about it, but that comes to an end on September 17 for sure. It’s possible, though, that Bandai says something about One Piece: Grand Gourmet at Gamescom Opening Night Live, but it is now confirmed to appear just shy of a month later at Tokyo Game Show on September 17. While the publisher hasn’t confirmed exactly what it’ll have on display, the event represents the first real update for one of the franchise’s most unexpected upcoming games, and it’ll at least be playable for fans in attendance.

Instead of focusing on pirate battles, One Piece: Grand Gourmet turns the Straw Hat Pirates into restaurant managers, making it a unique anime management game. Players help expand a second Baratie floating restaurant by gathering ingredients, creating recipes alongside Sanji, decorating the restaurant with more than 200 customization options, and serving over 400 pixel-art characters pulled from across the One Piece universe. It’s basically a cozy management sim wrapped in One Piece’s world (proving that One Piece’s legacy can come in many shapes and forms).
That makes Tokyo Game Show an important stop for One Piece: Grand Gourmet. Bandai Namco is bringing several major games to the event, including Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Bleach Mirrors High, and Tales of Eternia Remastered, but One Piece: Grand Gourmet arguably has the most unanswered questions. Fans still haven’t seen much of its management systems, progression, or how all of its restaurant mechanics come together beyond the initial reveal.
What’s even more surprising about that is One Piece: Grand Gourmet‘s October 22 release date, so fans can expect Bandai to ramp up marketing between now and then, making its September 17 tour stop at TGS an even bigger deal. As such, September 17 is shaping up to be the biggest day for One Piece: Grand Gourmet since it debuted at Summer Game Fest, finally giving fans another look at one of the franchise’s most unique games in years.
