Overwatch’s Jetpack Cat and Orisa Are a Deadlier Combo Than You Might Think

Overwatch’s Jetpack Cat and Orisa Are a Deadlier Combo Than You Might Think

From the moment Jetpack Cat was revealed as one of the five heroes in Season 1 of Overwatch’s Reign of Talon arc, players started thinking of devious combos that paired up the flying feline with existing heroes. However, as time has gone on, Overwatch players have found a new team-up that is as effective as it gets, with players using Jetpack Cat to make Orisa’s Ultimate significantly more devastating.

Some of the early Jetpack Cat combos that proved popular were Cassidy, Soldier: 76, and Reinhardt. Cassidy makes sense given the existing popularity of Sky Noons, which saw the cowboy teaming up with Support hero Lifeweaver to launch into the sky and lock onto any unlucky enemies below. With Jetpack Cat, Sky Noons became even easier to pull off, while a flying Soldier: 76 with Tactical Visor and a flanking Reinhardt with Earthshatter have been similarly intimidating. Now, though, it’s become clear that Orisa and Jetpack might just be the best combo of all.

Overwatch Reveals April Fools’ Day Event and Patch Notes

Overwatch celebrates the silliest holiday of the year with a set of completely absurd changes that are playable in game for a limited time.

Overwatch’s Jetpack Cat and Orisa Combo in Action

The above montage from Reddit user Zestyclose-Salad-290 shows the new Attack Helicopter meta in action. A quad kill on Watchpoint: Gibraltar, triple kills on Havana, King’s Row, and Lijiang Tower — over and over, the flying Orisa and Jetpack Cat completely sway fights in their team’s favor. The strategy is fairly simple, as it sees Jetpack Cat carrying Orisa with Lifeline as Orisa unleashes her Terra Surge Ultimate. The Jetpack Cat flies Orisa into the largest group of enemies they can, and once Orisa is in the center of them, she triggers her slam, wiping whoever is unlucky enough to be nearby.

The Attack Helicopter could be made even more terrifying if someone playing as Overwatch’s Ana joins in on the fun. Sure, she could Nanoboost the Orisa, allowing her to drop Terra Surge more quickly. However, what seems to be an even more useful approach is showcased in the montage, as Ana is shown Nanoboosting the Jetpack Cat instead. This drastically increases the cat’s speed, allowing her to zoom across the map and throw Orisa into the fight before the opposing team even has a chance to react. In the comments, many are entertained by the trick while others seem horrified by it (with some members of the latter group even wondering if it’s overpowered to let Jetpack Cat carry allies using their ults).

With Lifeline being one of Jetpack Cat’s base abilities, only the Orisa player needs to charge their Ultimate, making it a more cost effective strategy than a typical Ult combo.

How to Master (and Stop) Overwatch’s ‘Attack Helicopter’ Attack

For any Overwatch players looking to recreate this maneuver, it seems like the main trick is to let the Orisa player fully charge Terra Surge before carrying her into the line of fire. Typically, enemy teams have time to gun down Orisa even with her extra overhealth while Terra Surge is charging, something that can be mitigated by Jetpack Cat letting her charge up safely somewhere before flying in from a sneaky angle. And for those that are already nervous about facing off against this combo in their own matches, Sombra seems like a great counter to the strategy. Not only can she hack Orisa, but Sombra can also hack Jetpack Cat, breaking the tether and forcing the kitty to drop Orisa before she can reach Sombra’s allies.

While getting to use Jetpack Cat in Competitive is easier said than done, given how often the hero is banned, whenever Fika does get by the ban phase, it’s clearly worth pairing her up with an Orisa. So long as the communication is on point, Numbani’s hulking omnic defender can pull off a team kill with ease thanks to the latest Support hero.
