PC Users Have Until May 8 to Claim 4 Certified Classic Games For Free

GOG has added four nostalgic 90s games to its archive, all of which will remain free to claim until May 8, 2026. GOG continues its preservation efforts and, as part of its ongoing program, has partnered with developers of xLand, a former Polish studio, to modernize and protect its cult-favorite classics.

It’s unlikely that newer generations of gamers know much about xLand unless they are really interested in DOS-era games. The company is considered one of the most influential developers in Poland, with several titles that reached beyond the country and found an audience in places like the United States. One of those games is Electro Man, also known as Electro Body in some regions, which is now part of GOG’s free-to-claim promotion.

Steam Users Can Claim a 2025 Horror Game for Free and Keep It Forever

Steam’s latest giveaway on the Free-to-Keep Promotion is a 2025 horror game with solid, mostly positive reviews on the platform.

GOG Is Giving Away Four Nostalgic Games Right Now

To celebrate the addition of xLand games to GOG, the company has launched a limited-time promotion through May 8, 2026, allowing players to claim four titles for free. The lineup includes Robbo and its enhanced edition, Adventures of Robbo, along with Heartlight and the aforementioned Electro Man. The first three are well-regarded classic puzzle games known for their clever level design and lovely retro visuals. Meanwhile, Electro Man is an action platformer that has maintained a loyal cult following to this day.

The source codes for most of these xLand titles have been available online for quite some time. However, getting them to run on modern PCs often requires some technical know-how. There is also a fan-made browser version of Electro Man that lets nostalgia-seeking players try it for free. Even so, GOG’s current program and promotion make these titles far more accessible and compatible with modern devices, which is great news for fans of 90s games.

Robbo and Adventures of Robbo are the same game. The latter is an enhanced version prepared for release outside Poland several years after the original launch. However, both titles can be claimed separately on GOG.

Other New Free Games on GOG

xLand games aren’t the only freebies GOG users can claim right now. The storefront has added two more freeware titles, Citadel Remonstered and MaSzyna, which anyone can download and play at no cost. These two are not part of any promotion and will likely remain free to play indefinitely.

Citadel Remonstered is a remaster of the classic Amiga game Citadel, a DOOM-like first-person shooter. According to developer Virtual Design, the Remonstered edition is “a full re-write of the original Amiga game for modern platforms,” featuring visual enhancements, level balancing, and quality-of-life improvements. As for MaSzyna, it is a train simulation that lets players take control of some of the most famous locomotive models used in Poland.

All Other Free PC Games Right Now

Perhaps the biggest deal for PC gamers right now is the Epic Games Store’s Hogwarts Legacy giveaway, which expires on May 3. Players can also grab Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure, a co-op automation and strategy game, at no cost. On mobile, the Epic Games Store is offering Streets of Rage 4 as a free claim through May 7. Meanwhile, Steam users can pick up Overcome Your Fears – Caretaker for free as well, provided they claim it by May 7.
