Pokemon GO players can now get three extremely rare Pokemon for free by participating in the Global GO Fest 2026. Pokemon GO is celebrating its 10th anniversary this July, and yesterday, The Pokemon Company held a special event in Times Square in New York to celebrate the game’s milestone and to call back to an old commercial from 2016. The event featured Mewtwo with a Special Background that cannot be obtained elsewhere, and the popular Legendary Pokemon came with all perfect IVs as well as a 1 in 20 chance of being shiny.
You Can Now Get Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Zeraora For Free in Pokemon GO
Pokemon GO‘s Global GO Fest 2026 allows players to get Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y entirely for free by participating in Raid battles as well as the Genetic Mastery Timed Research. On top of that, players can also get Zeraora by completing a Special Research called A Thunderous Discovery. This event is only available for a short time, from July 11 at 10 am to 7 pm local time, and on July 12 from 10 am to 7 pm. This is the first time ever that players can get Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y easily and for free. Mega Mewtwo will appear in Super Mega Raids on July 11 and July 12, and players need Mega Energy to evolve Mewtwo into either version, which is obtained in the Raids by defeating Mewtwo. Also, completing the Genetic Mastery Timed Research grants Candy to Mega Evolve Mewtwo into either Mega Mewtwo X or Mega Mewtwo Y, but players must choose one path — so only one Mega can be obtained this way.
