Pokemon GO Reveals Special 10th Anniversary Season

Pokemon GO has officially revealed that the first new season of 2026 will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the mobile game, kicking off Memories in Motion in March. The massively popular monster-catching mobile game has already brought plenty of exciting content to kick off the year, between new Pokemon and the recent return of a popular in-person event. Both January and February have seen multiple new creatures introduced to Pokemon GO, while February’s GO Tour: Kalos added Mega Evolutions first featured in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, like Mega Dragonite and Mega Victreebel. However, Pokemon GO looks to have something even bigger on the horizon.

Alongside the Pokemon franchise as a whole marking its 30th anniversary, Pokemon GO will celebrate ten years later in 2026. Pokemon GO has already rolled out some sweeping changes to the game throughout recent weeks, including major adjustments to the GO Battle League and a new Super Max tier for Mega Pokemon. The mobile game is also expected to see a big feature in The Pokemon Company’s annual Pokemon Presents livestream to celebrate Pokemon Day, scheduled to air on February 27. Now, Pokemon GO is giving fans the first hints about the game’s next season.

Pokemon GO shakes up Mega Evolution, with a new power level tier and a special type of raid confirmed as coming soon to the game.

Memories in Motion Season Celebrates 10 Years of Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO officially dropped its first teaser trailer for the upcoming Memories in Motion season, kicking off the tenth anniversary celebration. The trailer features a sizzle reel of different loading screens from throughout Pokemon GO‘s history, finishing with a sneak peek at the loading screen for Memories in Motion. The image features a mix of both iconic Pokemon from the series’ past, like Charizard and Butterfree, and a handful of Pokemon from the franchise’s eighth generation, including different evolution stages of each Galar Starter Pokemon. The trailer concludes with a brief teaser showing Scorbunny, Lechonk, and Tinkatink, alongside a shot of Pikachu next to what appears to be a Power Spot.

While the short video does not give any direct confirmation about Pokemon GO‘s new content, it does feature some less than subtle hints. Pikachu standing next to a Power Spot likely suggests that Gigantamax Pikachu will make its long-awaited debut in Pokemon GO during the season, likely as a major event within Memories in Motion. Some fans have suggested that the trio of Pokemon featured in the group shot may hint at some of the Community Day events set to run during Memories in Motion, with Scorbunny, Lechonk, and Tinkatink in the spotlight.

Pokemon GO fans should already have tons to look forward to throughout the tenth anniversary beyond Memories in Motion. A special presentation during GO Tour: Kalos revealed that classic legendary Pokemon Mewtwo will be making a return during this year’s GO Fest event. Mewtwo has previously only been available through special event raids within Pokemon GO, currently seeing a drought of several years without the chance for fans to pick up the beloved Pokemon. Pokemon GO also launched a new “What’s Your Favorite?” campaign to coincide with the theming of the franchise’s 30th anniversary, encouraging fans to snap photos of their favorite Pokemon for special encounters.

The Pokemon franchise looks to have some big news on the forefront to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The Pokemon Company is heavily rumored to be giving fans the first official information about the tenth generation of main-series games during the anniversary, previously leaked as Pokemon Wind and Wave. The developer has also recently confirmed a pair of classic games are making a long-awaited return, with Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 27. Pokemon fans should keep an eye out on Pokemon Day, with the annual livestream expected to bring plenty more exciting updates about the franchise’s future.
