Pokemon TCG Pocket is doing away with a couple of systems tied to the acquisition of cards and emblems, as the development team works to streamline the mobile card battler. Both Dex Missions and Emblem Tickets will be scrapped from Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket in the near future, likely before the end of April, and a new system will be added to allow players to still gather Emblems.
It has been several months since the development team at DeNA has made any major overhauls to the card collection system of Pokemon TCG Pocket. The game is still being updated regularly with a rotating monthly schedule of activities, like Step-Up battles and Wonder Pick Events, along with the releases of new sets of cards, like the Mega Shine expansion that was released near the end of March. However, structural gameplay systems have remained pretty consistent for a while now, with the last big addition being the Share feature that was added in early November 2025.

The next big change, which is likely to arrive close to the end of April, concerns Emblems, digital merit badges that players can add to their profile displays to show off their most proud in-game achievements. Up until now, many emblems featuring specific Pokemon could be obtained through themed Dex Missions in Pokemon TCG Pocket, which offer stacks of expansion-specific Emblem Tickets that can be cashed in through the in-game shop. Once the next expansion for the game arrives, which is anticipated to fall on April 28, these tickets and the missions that provide them will be retroactively scrapped, no longer allowing players to make use of their previously collected Emblem Tickets.
In place of these retired mechanics, the developers are instituting a simpler system for expansion-related Emblem collection. Players will no longer need to visit Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s shop to pick and choose between Emblems. Instead, all Emblems released in a single expansion will be automatically unlocked once a player has collected a specific number of cards in that set. This number varies from 50 to 150 cards, and the new system will still award emblems retroactively for players already meeting the criteria. Additionally, special covers and backdrops in PokemonTCG Pocket that are currently available for purchase with Emblem Tickets will automatically be rewarded once a player collects at least 40 cards in each set.
Fans of the game have been left with a few questions regarding the latest announcement from the development team. Firstly, it does not address if changes will be made to the acquisition of Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Secret Emblems. These special badges are typically acquired through themed collections and not Dex Missions, which may indicate that the new changes should not affect them. Additionally, the in-game news post states that “new animations will appear” when registering cards to the Card Dex, but the ambiguity of that statement is leaving some players wondering if these animations will be related to the Dex or the cards themselves.

Ultimately, very little seems to be changing with the upcoming update, as it will simply provide a streamlining of the process for getting new Emblems and other cosmetic profile items. Emblem hunters will still need to direct their focus towards opening packs in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but they’ll have a few less steps to wade through in claiming their rewards.
