Pokemon TCG Pocket has revealed that its upcoming B3a booster pack, Paradox Drive, is inspired by Paradox creatures first introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and will launch on May 27. Along with the new expansion, Pokemon TCG Pocket will also get a brand-new gameplay gimmick that will let fans create new synergies between their cards.

Some aspects of the Paradox Drive booster pack had already leaked. However, the new announcement still features several interesting cards and hints at potentially game-changing combinations that are likely to catch the attention of many Pokemon TCG Pocket fans.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Paradox Drive Set Adds New Mechanic

According to DeNA, Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s upcoming expansion is scheduled to go live on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at around 06:00 PM PDT. What makes this set special is the addition of the Ancient and Future subcategories, which are said to feature unique interactions. The first time Pokemon TCG Pocket introduced a mechanic like this was with the release of the Extradimensional Crisis pack.

The official announcement for the Paradox Drive expansion states that players can create powerful new decks by using Ancient and Future cards alongside other cards in the same subcategory, but it does not go into further detail. However, if Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Ultra Beast example is anything to go by, Paradox Pokemon will likely have Trainer cards that can trigger abilities or enhance their effects. For now, fans will have to wait for the set’s official release to see exactly how these subcategories will interact and synergize.

One of the interesting cards from the Paradox Drive set is Raging Bolt, a highly demanding Pokemon in terms of attack energy cost. To activate this card, players will need to allocate two Water-type, two Electric-type, and one Colorless Energy, five in total. However, Raging Bolt makes the grind worth it by knocking out the opponent’s Active Pokemon regardless of its HP. In other words, this particular creature can one-shot every card in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
