Pokemon Winds and Waves Fan Art Imagines Gecqua’s Evolutions

Pokemon Winds and Waves Fan Art Imagines Gecqua’s Evolutions

A Pokemon Winds and Waves fan artist shared what Gecqua’s evolved forms could look like in the upcoming games, and shared the inspiration behind the conceptual designs. The Pokemon Winds and Waves fan artist stated that their latest post was a follow-up to a previous Gecqua art project that they did not feel completely satisfied with.

Known as the Water Gecko Pokemon, Gecqua is the Water-type starter of Pokemon Winds and Waves. Gecqua’s starter trio counterparts are the fiery Puppy Pokemon named Pombon, and the Bean Chick Pokemon called Browt. According to the limited information available about Gecqua, it can shoot spring balls of water from its tail, and is said to be an intelligent Pokemon. Like other Water-type starter Pokemon, Gecqua’s Torrent ability powers up its aquatic attacks once its HP drops one-third of its maximum. Other details about Gecqua are currently unknown, so fans must wait for more information.

Pokemon Fan Creates New Designs for Bulbasaur and Its Evolutions

A Pokemon fan artist creates some eye-catching new designs for the Kanto starter trio, including Bulbasaur and its subsequent evolutions.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Fan Art Depicts Gecqua Evolving Into a Draconic Creature

Although details about the starter trio of Pokemon Winds and Waves remain elusive, that has not stopped a Pokemon fan artist from taking a guess at what Gecqua could evolve into. On the Pokemon subreddit, a Redditor named Serbero posted a draconic depiction of Gecqua’s evolved forms, which they named Dracqua and Dracomodo. True to their names, Serbero’s fan-made concepts are Water and Dragon dual-type Pokemon. Dracqua’s appearance is reminiscent of a gymnast that can stand on its hands, and it has a purple and pink body pattern, with light blue spots on its tail. Dracqua’s evolved form, Dracomodo, is a bipedal monster with a long tongue and a tail fin adorned with pastel patterns.

Serbero’s latest contribution is a follow-up to a previous Pokemon fan art post about Gecqua’s evolved forms, where they chose to depict the Water Gecko Pokemon as a Water and Psychic dual-type monster. Serbero stated that they were not completely satisfied with their previous evolution concepts for Gecqua, which were called Tailash and Shengong. Serbero said that their designs of Dracqua and Dracomodo were based on the Komodo dragon, a large reptile native to Indonesia’s Komodo islands. Although Serbero stated that they chose Water and Dragon as the main type pairing, they stated that Water and Poison could work as an alternative choice for Dracqua and Dracomodo, though a few tweaks to their designs would likely be made to compensate.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Could Integrate Culture Into the Starter Trio’s Designs

In response, some Pokemon fans stated that Dracomodo was a “sick name,” while others seemed keen on the idea of a Water and Dragon dual-type starter being a possible option for Gecqua. Should Gecqua actually evolve into a Dragon-type Pokemon, it would be the first time that a Water and Dragon dual-type starter could be used by players in a mainline Pokemon game. Although Mega Feraligatr is a Water and Dragon dual-type Pokemon, it can only assume this form temporarily rather than at a baseline level. As Pokemon trainers continue sharing fan-made depictions of what the Gen 10 starter trio could evolve into, it remains to be seen how many variations will be made before Pokemon Winds and Waves launches sometime in 2027.

Given that the setting of Pokemon Winds and Waves is an island archipelago region inspired by Southeast Asia, a Komodo dragon evolution for Gecqua could make sense from a cultural perspective. Though guesses are already being made about what elemental types that the Pokemon Winds and Waves starter trio could have once fully evolved, time will tell what the starters will actually evolve into.
