Fortnite streamer Bugha has been removed from the Championship Series due to using unapproved software, which granted him an unfair advantage in the competition. When Fortnite first launched, Epic Games’s primary focus was Save the World. The company created the Battle Royale mode, due to the genre’s popularity at the time, in an attempt to attract fans to give the game a try. It became such a success that it completely overshadowed Save the World and became what most would consider the main Fortnite game mode.
Battle Royale grew at an incredible rate, and it gave Fortnite popularity across the entire globe. While, at first, it was a game that players would play for casual fun, it quickly gained the attention of professional players, which led to the creation of an official competitive scene with huge tournaments, cash cups, and much more. In 2019, Epic Games held the first major competitive Fortnite event: the Fortnite World Cup. After this, it created the Fortnite Championship Series, most commonly known as FNCS. It occurs annually, and it is the biggest and most important Fortnite tournament in the world.
It’s Officially the End of an Era for Fortnite
Fortnite officially reaches the end of an era it has been in since its initial 2017 release.
Bugha Disqualified From FNCS Major 1 Finals
Even though the Fortnite World Cup only happened in 2019, it was an event that many would never forget. Bugha won the solo finals and was declared World Champion. This was a major feat in his career, and he went home with three million dollars. Since then, many players have been following his channel, as he is considered one of the best Fortnite players of all time. Those who were excited to see his performance in this year’s FNCS will be sad to know that he has been disqualified from the competition, as he has allegedly been caught cheating.
It has been reported that Bugha was using unauthorized software that gave him a competitive advantage. Epic Games has not confirmed which software he was using. However, it is speculated that it was a form of software that was able to read the game files and provide information on Battle Bus routes in Fortnite.
Some fans were outraged by this information, as the streamer was only notified that he had been disqualified a few hours before the start of the FNCS Major 1 finals. Additionally, it is believed that this software was not classified as cheating before. And, therefore, those who were disqualified for using should’ve gotten a warning instead of an immediate DQ. On the other hand, others believe that being disqualified is a light consequence for cheating, and those who used should have been banned altogether.

Many fans have spoken out against Epic Games’s decision and are going to social media to ask the company to bring Bugha back to the tournament. Comments such as “Free Bugha” and “Justice for Bugha” have quickly filled the Fortnite Competitive’s page on Twitter. The FNCS Major 1 finals are a two-day event, so there is still time for Epic Games to respond and shed some light on whether Bugha and the other disqualified players will be given another chance.
