PS Plus is Losing At Least 8 Games in May 2026, Including One of Its Best Titles

PS Plus is Losing At Least 8 Games in May 2026, Including One of Its Best Titles

PlayStation has confirmed that its incredibly popular PS Plus subscription service will be losing at least eight games in May 2026, one of which will be Remedy Entertainment’s critically acclaimed action-adventure game, Control. The upcoming removal of these PS Plus titles will only affect those who are subscribed to either the service’s Extra or Premium tiers, as Essential users do not have access to the constantly changing game catalog.

On the first Tuesday of each month, PlayStation gives all subscribers, regardless of tier, some brand-new games to claim permanently (as long as they remain subscribed to the service). For Essential users, these games are the only ones available each month. But for those subscribed to the Extra or Premium tiers, PlayStation offers much more. Similar to Xbox Game Pass, the PS Plus game catalog has a large number of games available to play at any given time. But, unlike Essential games, the game catalog regularly rotates its titles to keep things fresh. And with a new month fast approaching, it has now been confirmed which games will be leaving the service in a few weeks.

Games Leaving PS Plus in May 2026

  • MotoGP 25 (PS4, PS5)
  • Sand Land (PS4)
  • Soul Hackers 2 (PS4, PS5)
  • Mortal Shell (PS4)
  • Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition (PS5)
  • Control: Ultimate Edition (PS5)
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (PS4)
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope (PS4, PS5)

As April draws to a close, the ‘Last Chance to Play’ section of PS Plus has now been updated, confirming that a total of eight more games will be removed from the service in May 2026. Undoubtedly, the biggest title leaving the PS Plus Extra and Premium game catalog is Control, specifically the Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game, two post-launch DLC expansions, and all extra content, such as photo mode and Expeditions, the endgame mode. Alongside Control, subscribers will also need to say goodbye to MotoGP 25, Sand Land, Soul Hackers 2, Mortal Shell, Mortal Shell: Enhanced Edition, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope.

The good news is that a new batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games for April 2026 has just been added, and it includes another big title. While smaller indie hits such as Squirrel with a Gun have joined the service on April 21, AAA releases like Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, Football Manager 26 Console, and The Crew Motorfest are also being added to the game catalog today. For those subscribed to PS Plus Premium, Wild Arms 4, the PlayStation 2 title from 2006, will be joining the classics catalog.

However, the addition of new games for April 2026 also means there are some titles being removed from the service. With the likes of Control and Mortal Shell leaving next month, time has now run out to play hits such as Dave the Diver, EA Sports PGA Tour, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, and many more, as a total of six PS Plus Extra games were removed on April 21.

As for Essential subscribers, which is the service’s cheapest tier, there is still time to claim the free PS Plus games for April 2026. Included in the new monthly games are Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, Lords of the Fallen, and Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered. All three games are available to claim now until the next batch of free games, which will release on Tuesday, May 5.
