PlayStation 5 gamers that want a free game need to claim the console’s latest freebie by April 13. While PC gamers are treated to free games all the time, the same can’t be said for console gamers. Most of the time, any “free” games given away on consoles like PS5 and Xbox actually require a subscription service, and so aren’t truly free games.
There have been times when games have been given away for free on PS5 in the past, though. One notable example is during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Sony launched the Play at Home initiative. The first wave of Play at Home games consisted of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey, while the second wave included Abzu, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Enter the Gungeon, Moss, Paper Beast, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The Witness, and Thumper, along with the 2016 Ratchet & Clank game and Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition. There haven’t been too many free game giveaways on PS4 or PS5 since then, but now there’s yet another game PlayStation gamers can snag for free without needing a PS Plus subscription.
Graveyard Keeper: Tips For Beginners
Graveyard Keeper is a farming sim with a macabre twist. For players just starting out, here are a few key tips.
Graveyard Keeper is Currently Free to Keep Forever
Gamers on PS4 and PS5 have until April 13 to claim Graveyard Keeper completely free of charge. Technically a PS4 game that’s playable on PS5 through backward compatibility, Graveyard Keeper is a game about building and managing a medieval cemetery. It is similar to games like Stardew Valley, where players interact with a variety of villagers and have dungeons to explore when they’re not tending to their graveyard business. Graveyard Keeper earned mixed reviews at the time of its original release, but there’s no harm in claiming it for free and giving it a try yourself.
Graveyard Keeper is free on more platforms than just PlayStation. As it turns out, Graveyard Keeper is also currently free on Steam as well as Xbox. Like the Graveyard Keeper PlayStation giveaway, the giveaways on Steam and Xbox are scheduled to expire on April 13, so time is running out for those interested in snagging the game for their digital libraries.
Why is Graveyard Keeper Free?
The Graveyard Keeper free giveaways across PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox is a way to help promote the recently-revealed sequel. Graveyard Keeper 2 is launching later this year, and looks to be an even bigger and better version of the original game. The idea is that by giving away the first game for free, more people will become aware of the sequel’s upcoming release, and may be convinced to buy it when it launches.

It’s also worth pointing out that the various Graveyard Keeper DLC packs are on sale, with Game of Crone, Stranger Sins, and Better Save Soul available for $2.49 a pop and Breaking Dead discounted to a mere $1.24. And while you do not need a PS Plus subscription to claim Graveyard Keeper for free or take advantage of the DLC discounts, the DLC is even cheaper for PS Plus subscribers, with another 5% knocked off the price.
