PlayStation 5 gamers have a lot of noteworthy new games to look forward to playing in the near future, as at least 10 big games are set to launch in August. The PlayStation 5 is the lead home console at the time of this writing, and as such, it is treated to nearly every major third-party release. The third-party releases combined with the console exclusives ensure that there is always something exciting to play on the PS5.
The PS5 has already had a pretty busy 2026, but things are about to ramp up dramatically. Most game developers and publishers are anxious to get their titles out before the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 in November, resulting in an especially busy August, September, and October. As it stands, there are 10 major games releasing for the PS5 in August that fans will definitely want to keep an eye on in the days and weeks ahead.

PS5’s busy month kicks off with two big game releases on August 4. Beast of Reincarnation is an action-RPG developed by Game Freak, the studio best known for its Pokemon games. Big Walk, meanwhile, is an open world co-op game where players explore and solve puzzles with their friends. Big Walk is going to be a free PS Plus game when it releases on August 4, and that should make it a lot easier for subscribers to set up multiplayer sessions with their friends.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is arguably the headlining new game coming to PS5 in August 2026, as it’s a console exclusive for the platform. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a stylized fighting game featuring Marvel superheroes and villains that uses an anime art style. It’s generated significant buzz so far, and it will be exciting to see how the final product turns out.
From there, PS5 gamers can look forward to co-op survival game Grounded 2 on August 11, which marks yet another Xbox-published game on the platform. Long-awaited survival-horror sequel The Sinking City 2 is releasing on August 18, and Soulslike Mortal Shell 2 is launching on August 20. Co-op game Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is releasing on August 25, while Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is coming on August 27. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is especially notable because it marks the first time that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has been released for anything other than the PS3.
The same day Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 releases, PS5 gamers can check out brand-new, original games in the form of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Star Wars Zero Company. The former is a historical action-adventure game, while Star Wars Zero Company is a turn-based strategy game that is best described as XCOM meets Star Wars. The games will be appealing to different audiences, but both have the potential to be some of the biggest new releases of the year.
