Resident Evil Requiem Clears Another Major Sales Milestone

Resident Evil Requiem has reached another major sales milestone, surpassing 7 million units shipped worldwide. Developed by Capcom, Resident Evil Requiem is the latest installment in the legendary survival horror franchise that follows the story of Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy as they unravel the mystery behind Raccoon City Syndrome. The game has been praised by critics and fans alike for bringing the best of the franchise’s past with impressive visuals, refined gameplay, and compelling characters.

Within a week of its launch, Resident Evil Requiem managed to ship over 5 million copies across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This established the game as the fastest-selling entry in the franchise to date, taking the crown away from Resident Evil 6, which previously held the record. However, the hype behind Resident Evil Requiem shows no signs of slowing down, as Capcom has now revealed yet another sales update for the survival horror title.

The 18 Scariest Resident Evil Games, Ranked

Capcom’s Resident Evil is the definitive horror franchise, but the games are not equally scary. RE7, Village, RE4, and Requiem are top contenders.

Resident Evil Requiem Hits 7 Million Units Sold Globally

Resident Evil Requiem‘s game director, Koshi Nakanishi, recently revealed via an Instagram story that the title has sold 7 million units globally. In the post, Capcom’s employees are seen marking the occasion with cakes inspired by the game’s protagonists. Grace’s cake features a white design with a zombie hand alongside the message, “Congratulations on 7 million.” On the other hand, Leon’s cake has a darker theme, with his hatchet and the message, “Welcome to 7m Leon!” This achievement follows Resident Evil Requiem‘s earlier record of hitting 6 million copies sold in just 17 days, making it the fastest title in the franchise to hit the milestone.

Shipping over 7 million units in under two months is quite an impressive feat. Resident Evil Requiem also blew up on Steam at launch, reaching a peak of 344,214 concurrent players. It continues to hold an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from the majority of the players on the Valve platform. Critics and fans alike have praised the game as one of the best entries in the series, and it’s likely to maintain its upward trajectory in the coming months as more players dive into its unique survival horror experience.

One of the many reasons behind the game’s strong momentum is Capcom’s continued post-launch support. A recent update to the game introduced the Photo Mode, allowing players to capture their favorite in-game moments. It’s also been confirmed that a Resident Evil Requiem DLC is in development, but no release date has been given just yet. Additionally, leaks suggest that a Mercenaries’ mode could be added to the title in the near future.

Resident Evil Requiem isn’t the only Capcom title that has taken over the gaming industry in 2026. Pragmata sold 2 million units within days of its release, earning a positive reception across the board. The studio is currently gearing up for the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Altogether, 2026 is shaping up to be one of Capcom’s most successful years in recent memory, with the developer actively capitalizing on the hype surrounding its major releases.
