Silent Hill: Townfall Goes Full Analog Horror, Is Out This Fall

Silent Hill: Townfall made an appearance in today’s Sony State of Play, revealing new gameplay footage and a PS5 and PC launch date of September 24, 2026.

Townfall was first revealed way, way back in 2022 in a teaser, and fully revealed again earlier this year during another State of Play. A spinoff of the main series, Townfall is set in the ’90s and follows a man named Simon Ordell who wakes up in the Scottish town of St. Amelia, where he has to work to uncover why he’s connected to this village he doesn’t know.

The trailer we saw today showed Simon awakening on the docks of St. Amelia, then using a wonderfully retro CRTV to follow a woman’s voice into the town. We finally get a look at that woman whose voice we’ve heard in a prior trailer: this is Zoe, who the PlayStation blog refers to as a nurse at a local clinic.

Of course, being Silent Hill, things quickly go from misty and sad to dark, red, and messed-up. There are creatures prowling in the buildings of the town, and the trailer ends on the tagline, “fear the truth behind the static,” suggesting the very ’90s setting and analog technology will play a key role. It sounds like Simon’s CRTV will be used frequently throughout the game, as he seems able to cart it around and tune it to different frequencies, potentially using it to solve puzzles. Apparently, you’ll be able to use motion controls to move the CRTV around and try to get a better signal. That should bring back some memories.

That’s all we know for now, as Silent Hill games tend to be best when the scares are surprises. Silent Hill: Townfall will come in Standard and Deluxe editions, with the Deluxe Edition including a number of bonus goodies and also releasing two days early, on September 22.
