Sims 4 Player Shows Off Medieval Castle and Village

Despite already being over a decade old, The Sims 4 continues to keep players engaged with its incredibly extensive customization features, which one dedicated fan utilized to design and build a jaw-dropping medieval castle, without having to include any custom content. Users have shared a variety of stunning character creations and architectural builds in The Sims 4, and the game’s online community has been dazzled by this impeccable European castle and surrounding village.

When it first released in 2014, audiences voiced disappointment with the arguably limited content of The Sims 4 compared to previous games in The Sims franchise. However, The Sims 4 has since dropped a massive number of post-launch DLC packs, adding dozens of new themed build and design kits, allowing fans to finally develop the in-game creations of their dreams. While community-made custom packs have also added highly-requested new furniture items, outfits, and more to The Sims 4, one fan has shared a build that showcases just how much can be done with the game’s official content.

The Sims 4 Medieval Castle and Village Build

Redditor rolltocrit shared a stunning look at their fully original Medieval Castle and Village build in The Sims 4, which includes over a dozen turrets and towers, weathered exteriors, cobblestone walkways, and an outer wall, plus a fully furnished and intricately detailed interior with multiple living spaces fit for royalty. They utilized the Get Together, Get Famous, Cottage Living, Horse Ranch, Life & Death, Romantic Garden, and Castle Estate official packs for The Sims 4 and managed to bring the entire build to life without using a single custom content pack. From the elaborate exterior to the even more meticulous interior design, the entire castle build took approximately 100 hours to complete, along with an additional 300 hours of playtesting and fine-tuning to ensure the Sims would be able to actively inhabit the fictional village.

The Sims 4 Packs

Some of the more notable features of the medieval castle include a portcullis entry gate, an imposing staircase leading to the castle doors, a dining hall with suits of armor, a throne room for the royal family, lush bedrooms with rich wood detailing and stone fireplaces, a rooftop viewing area with a fountain, and an impressive library with hundreds of books. In addition to the more luxurious areas of the castle, the servants’ quarters are also featured, such as a kitchen, service corridors, and a tiny-yet-cozy living space. Fellow players lauded their praises upon the build, with many noting the cleverness and experience needed to take full advantage of so many packs and their perfectly themed assets to make a realistic medieval castle and village in The Sims 4.

Rolltocrit is not the first player to spark fan enthusiasm for a life-like build in The Sims 4, with countless others sharing Sims creations that mimic real-world locations. Others prefer a more fantastical approach and instead choose to bring their favorite fictional worlds to life in the game. Previous community shares have included recreations of other video game universes within the Sims franchise, while one player chose to recreate Ariel’s castle in The Sims 4. The sheer amount of content available in The Sims 4 and other entries in the series to allow audiences to make such impressive builds that sway between realism and imagination remains a testament to how the franchise has remained one of the most beloved games in the life-sim genre.

There is no denying the popularity of games with extensive customization options, and it should come as no surprise that one of the first titles to introduce fans to the seemingly endless possibilities of clever intuition and plentiful game content has led to the ongoing hit that is The Sims 4. While a large portion of the game’s fandom is still keeping their fingers crossed for a new entry in the longstanding franchise, many like rolltocrit are more than happy to continue putting their build skills to the test with everything The Sims 4 has to offer.
