Some Crimson Desert Players Think the Game Needs a Map GPS Feature

Some Crimson Desert Players Think the Game Needs a Map GPS Feature

Some Crimson Desert players believe the game needs a GPS map feature. In a few days, this action-adventure game will mark one month since its release, an occasion that will also be celebrated with over 5 million copies sold and a steady influx of new players every day. The immense level of interest in Crimson Desert stems primarily from the virtually endless possibilities for interaction offered by its high-fantasy universe, where players often spend hundreds of hours discovering features they hadn’t known existed before.

The wide range of activities available in the game is closely tied to the vast open world of Crimson Desert, which was designed to give players freedom and immersion as they explore it. As a result, they have the option to follow the main storyline and take on major boss battles, but at the same time, they can stray from the beaten path and focus on discovering new areas, testing their skills in challenges, or learning more casual activities like fishing or crafting. So it happens that, when faced with so many possibilities, players get lost: both because they don’t know where to start and, at times, because they literally get lost in the world and can’t find the right path to their chosen goal.

Crimson Desert is on Track to be One of the Best-Selling Games of 2026

Developer Pearl Abyss announces Crimson Desert has passed a major sales milestone, making the game one of the best-selling new titles of 2026 so far.

Debate Over the Idea of a GPS Feature in Crimson Desert

Recently, on the Crimson Desert subreddit, players debated the idea of introducing a feature that would make it easier for them to navigate the game world. A user named Chemical-Rest3892 posted an image showing a simplified map with GPS functionality, believing that they were probably the only person requesting such a feature in the game. The author of the post argued that adding a trail to follow would make it easier and faster to reach quest objectives in Crimson Desert.

A lively discussion broke out in the comments section, with players divided in their opinions on the idea of introducing such a feature. Some players agreed, noting that adding GPS would make it much easier to travel using the various vehicles available in Crimson Desert, particularly citing their own experiences with wagon traversal and the need to check the map every few moments to avoid straying from their destination. Other commenters, however, opposed the idea of introducing this feature, arguing that it would discourage exploration and distract players from the actual game world, causing them to miss many of the secrets hidden within the environment. However, some of them admitted that they wouldn’t mind having GPS added if there were an option to turn it off, so that the decision to use it would be up to the player.

Crimson Desert lets players travel in many ways: from simply walking, to riding horses, warbears, wolves, and mech suits, to even flying across the map on a dragon. Despite this, the game doesn’t make it easy for players to navigate its vast expanses, maintaining certain restrictions such as a timer that limits the duration of dragon flights. Just as with the idea of adding GPS, some players are calling for certain gameplay adjustments to make the game easier, while others prefer the game as it is, viewing the challenges as an integral part of their experience.

Ever since the release of Crimson Desert, players have been looking for creative ways to get around in the game, even using trees as catapults to reach their destinations faster. While updates and fixes based on fan feedback continue to be released for the game, the issues addressed tend to be technical in nature. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether requests focused on gameplay and its mechanics will be taken into account by the developers in the future.
