Some Fortnite Players Want the Option to Disable Certain Skins

Some Fortnite Players Want the Option to Disable Certain Skins

Some Fortnite fans are asking Epic Games to allow players to disable certain skins on their accounts, particularly in response to recently teased “brainrot” skins. The massively popular battle royale features thousands of skins, from the shooter game’s cast of original characters to its litany of crossovers. Fortnite has become widely known for the extensive reach of its crossover content, spanning everything from popular video games, movies, and TV shows to real-world celebrities and musicians. However, some players think Epic Games may be taking it a bit too far with the recently teased brainrot skins.

Fortnite is no stranger to including trending internet memes as cosmetics and skins, with recent leaks suggesting that more joke skins are on the way. Leaks from prominent Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR in February suggested that Epic was planning to add new skins to the game based on Italian brainrot character Tung Tung Tung Sahur. The infamous Skibidi Toilet meme was previously added to the game as a skin, following its rise in popularity in 2024. Now, Epic Games is getting some pushback from fans who don’t want to see the new brainrot skins.

You can take control of the Battle Bus in Fortnite to influence where players will be forced to drop. Here’s how to do it.

Fortnite Fans Want to Disable Teased Brainrot Skins

A new post on the Fortnite subreddit from Reddit user Sevolorred proposed a new feature to coincide with the teased brainrot skins. The post proposed that Epic Games should add the option for players to disable specific skins on their account, meaning players using the skin would appear as a default model when disabled. The user cited Epic Games allowing players to block some emotes within Fortnite, giving fans a way to combat specific emotes tied to in-game toxicity. The Reddit user even suggested that the function could allow players to block specific skins they personally do not like, referencing Fortnite‘s litany of superhero skins.

While many fans agreed with the notion of not wanting to see the brainrot skins, some did bring up valid arguments against the idea. One of the top comments on the post implied that many players would be less likely to buy a Fortnite skin if others cannot see it, suggesting that sales of some new skins would suffer. Many fans also suggested that the player should use the skins as a motivating factor to eliminate players using the skins, rather than disabling them entirely. Some shared that a larger part of the backlash towards the Tung Tung Tung Sahur skin was due to the meme’s AI-generated origins.

The backlash comes as the brainrot skins were officially teased by Epic Games during the recent Chapter 7 Season 2 trailer. The new season, which launched on March 19, brought a new collaboration with Game of Thrones as its main crossover, adding skins based on characters like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and the Night King. Epic Games also unveiled a surprising collab with Looney Tunes as part of Chapter 7 Season 2, with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck both receiving skins during the season.

Beyond Chapter 7 Season 2’s launch content and the teased brainrot skins, Fortnite is rumored to have many new crossovers coming in the near future. Recent leaks have suggested that Toy Story may be receiving a collab during Chapter 7 Season 2, hinting at outfits based on Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Zurg. Leaks have hinted at a number of future crossovers being in the works as well, including popular franchises like Kingdom Hearts, Ben 10, and multiple new WWE-themed skins. Fortnite‘s extensive library of crossover content looks to grow even larger throughout the coming months, with lots on the way for the battle royale.
