Star Wars Zero Company Guide: Everything We Know

Star Wars Zero Company Guide: Everything We Know

Announced last year following a bit of a leak, Star Wars: Zero Company is shaping up to be something very special. This upcoming tactical strategy game is oozing XCOM vibes, but with some twists of its own on the formula. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Star Wars: Zero Company.

What is Star Wars: Zero Company?

Zero Company is a single-player turn-based tactical strategy game that tasks players with taking a squad of five characters into various missions to complete objectives. Like in XCOM, players can move their squad members around to gain tactical advantages, hide behind cover, or get the drop on enemy droids and thugs.

When is Zero Company launching?

EA and Bit Reactor haven’t shared an official release date yet, but have confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company is launching in 2026.

What platforms will it be available on?

Star Wars Zero Company is set to arrive later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. No Switch 2 port has been confirmed yet.

What era of Star Wars is Zero Company set in?

Lucasfilm has confirmed that Zero Company is set during the Clone Wars era of the Star Wars franchise. This is a time when nearly every corner of the galaxy was engulfed in conflict as Clone Troopers fought Separatist Droids across planets like Genosis, Felucia, and Umbara.

Who do you play as in Zero Company?

Players will take on the role of Hawks, a customizable character and leader of Zero Company. Players can change Hawks’ name, gender, and species. They are a disgraced non-clone former Republic officer. After a yet-unknown event forced them to leave the Republic, Hawks creates Zero Company to keep fighting against the Separatists and their mysterious allies without the support of the Republic.

Does it feature permadeath, like XCOM?

Yes! Any character besides Hawks can die permanently if you aren’t careful in Zero Company. Even named squadmates who are important to the game’s storyline, as well as randomly generated cannon fodder you recruit as you progress, can die. Nobody is safe. So be careful out there.

Are there Jedi in the game?

Yup! There is at least one confirmed Jedi character in the game who can be a part of your squad: Tel-Rea Vokoss, a Tognath Jedi Padawan who is looking to finish the mission her master started before dying.

Can I walk around levels in third-person?

Yes! Bit Reactor has confirmed that during story missions, players will be able to walk around levels and explore them outside of combat.

Wait, Star Wars: Zero Company can be shortened to ZCOM…!?

Yeah, I can’t imagine that was an accident…

This game is neat, but I want a big Star Wars RPG like KOTOR!

Well, good news, one of the key people behind the original Knights of the Old Republic is making a new single-player RPG set in Star Wars’ far-off past.

Well, I want a cool Star Wars racing game!

Okay, well, don’t worry, some ex-Burnout devs are making exactly what you demand.
