Steam Users Have Until March 22 to Get Creature Collection Game Completely Free of Charge

Steam Users Have Until March 22 to Get Creature Collection Game Completely Free of Charge

Steam‘s Free to Keep promotion is back with a brand new creature collection game called Pet Lands, a game more like Palworld than Pokemon. In it, players collect coins, hatch pets to perform mining tasks, and explore a handful of areas.

Steam’s Free to Keep promotion is popular for obvious reasons: sometimes buying a new game is risky, but a free one rarely is. It can be hard to keep up with the promotion as it is seemingly applied randomly, but generally speaking, there are a couple of games made free every week. Pet Lands typically retails at $14.99, but until 12 pm CT on March 22, they can claim it for free.

Steam is Being Investigated by the FBI

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation launches an investigation into several games confirmed to contain malware on Steam.

Pet Lands is described as an “incremental clicker/idle creature collection adventure game,” which is a lot to say that the main and primary goal is to collect tons of coins via creatures. It promises “a huge variety of hand-crafted” areas to explore, thanks to the efforts of your creatures, and mining is not as straightforward as it may seem. There are random events tied to mining, which can result in ice cubes and dragons causing chaos among your creatures. As typically seen in the genre, fans will be able to collect different, rarer variations like Gold, Rainbow, Mega, and Omega forms.

Beyond that, players will be able to find, buy, and craft upgrades for themselves and these pets. It’s more of a clicker, creature collection game, but its emphasis on using these pets for resources is why it seems more like Palworld than Pokemon. At the very least, it’s more original than the recently revealed Pickmon—a game seemingly ripping off assets from Palworld, Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, and fan art.

That said, Pet Lands does have mixed reviews on Steam. Many users call it an asset flip, saying many of its maps seem like they were taken from some of Roblox‘s games and saying the asking price was too high. Others say it is a nice, relaxing game because of its simplicity. The price is often a point of contention in these reviews, so while the reviews are mixed, it’s worth checking out for free.

More Free PC Games You Can Download and Keep Forever

There are more games that PC users can currently claim and download for either Steam or the Epic Games Store. Via a limited-time deal on Fanatical, PC users can snag Police Stories—a top-down shooter focused on realistic police encounters with strict rules of engagement.

On the Epic Games Store, players can claim Electrician Simulator for free, as well as a bonus content pack for World of Warships. The former sees players take on contracts and build a workshop/company by completing electrical jobs, from changing light bulbs to wiring a house. The Techibana Pack is additional content for the naval combat game, which includes the titular warship and bonus camos.

Across the board, this means fans can get a total of $78 worth of games and content absolutely free, but they should be sure to claim each of these games before their associated promotions expire.
