Switch 2 Gamers Should Circle January 22 on Their Calendars

Switch 2 Gamers Should Circle January 22 on Their Calendars

Since it launched last June, the Nintendo Switch 2 has enjoyed a steady stream of brand-new game releases, ranging from exclusive games to third-party ports. Switch 2 gamers have had no shortage of games to play from a wide variety of genres, and the new releases aren’t slowing down any time soon.

Within the next six months, Switch 2 owners can look forward to games like Mario Tennis Fever and its largest roster in series history, as well as the cozy Pokemon meets Minecraft game Pokemon Pokopia, among a variety of other titles. Typically, new Switch 2 releases are spaced out, so it’s surprising when multiple games land on the same day.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games For 2026

Mario, Pokemon, and Resident Evil are just some franchises that will be releasing Switch 2 games in 2026.

But that’s exactly what’s happening on Thursday, January 22. On that day, Switch 2 owners have not one, not two, but three games releasing all at the same time. On that day, Switch 2 owners can mark their calendars for the debut of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and The Rumble Fish 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. All three games are third-party releases, but they are all games Switch 2 owners will want to keep an eye on.

New Switch 2 Games Releasing on January 22

  • Dynasty Warriors: Origins
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade
  • The Rumble Fish 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a hack-and-slash musou game and the latest installment in the long-running Dynasty Warriors series. It originally released for other platforms around this time last year and earned mostly positive reviews. In fact, it’s one of the better-received games in Dynasty Warriors history. Switch 2 owners that enjoyed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and are looking for something similar should definitely consider giving Dynasty Warriors: Origins a shot when it launches on January 22.

That same day, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will grace Nintendo’s latest home console/handheld hybrid. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is an enhanced version of the FF7 Remake, complete with extra content that introduces fan-favorite character Yuffie to the mix. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is a graphically-intensive game, so for it to come to the Switch 2 is a promising sign of things to come for Nintendo’s platform.

The Rumble Fish 2 is perhaps the least well-known of the Switch 2 games coming on January 22, but it’s still worth a look. An arcade 2D fighting game from Dimps and Sega, The Rumble Fish 2‘s Switch version includes the new Team Battle mode and improved graphics compared to its Switch 1 counterpart. The game will also support crossplay with the Switch 1, so that’s good news for those that want to play with friends that have yet to upgrade.

Other Switch 2 Games Releasing Later This Month

  • Mio: Memories in Orbit – January 20
  • Core Keeper – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – January 28
  • Dispatch – January 28

Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and The Rumble Fish 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition all releasing on the same day add up to make January 22 an especially busy day for Switch 2 owners. However, there are other upcoming dates that Switch 2 owners will also want to be mindful of.

On January 20, stylish Metroidvania game Mio: Memories in Orbit will hit the Switch 2, and then another busy day is coming on January 28 when Core Keeper‘s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition drops alongside Dispatch. Dispatch is an episodic adventure game about superheroes that earned critical acclaim when it released for other platforms last year and should make a fine addition to the Switch 2’s lineup.
