With Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game now available on PC and PlayStation 5, The Gameplay Group and PM Studios revealed plans to continue updating the game with more features and content. It’s a good time to be an Avatar fan, as the franchise is certainly seeing plenty of new content to consume between a new film, an upcoming animated series, and now the highly anticipated game, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game.

There has seemingly been plenty of excitement surrounding Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game thanks to its striking hand-drawn 2D animation which helps it appear faithful to the beloved animated series. That visual style as well as the tight controls are a big reason why critics and fans have praised Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game even if the game is missing a few expected features typically seen within this genre. However, it seems that The Gameplay Group is well aware of these missing pieces as a new post-launch newsletter has arrived to provide plenty of details on what players can expect to see with the game going forward.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Adding Free DLC Character

Following the launch of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, the team put out a short post on Twitter revealing its post-launch plans to continue expanding the game with content and features. However, a surprising announcement confirmed that Tagah from the Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender film is being added as a playable character.

What’s most surprising about this character reveal is that Tagah isn’t considered part of the previously revealed Season Pass of characters, a nice surprise that players likely didn’t see coming. What’s more is that Tagah will be available completely for free as a thank you to players, with additional details set to be announced at a later date prior to Tagah’s planned Fall 2026 release. Previously at EVO 2026, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game revealed the content of its 5 character season pass, confirming Bolin, Chief Lin Beifong, Ty Lee, and Uncle Iroh. The fifth character will come down to a player vote between Amon, Kuvira, King Bumi, Tenzin, and Asami Sato.
