The upcoming turn-based strategy Star Wars game, Star Wars: Zero Company, will feature Anakin Skywalker. Star Wars: Zero Company is being developed as a joint collaboration between Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment. Bit Reactor is a studio largely comprised of developers that previously worked for Firaxis on the XCOM series, so it’s no surprise that Zero Company has often been described as XCOM meets Star Wars.
Star Wars: Zero Company was confirmed for Summer Game Fest 2026 ahead of time, and the game’s release date leaked online as well. The SGF 2026 trailer confirmed that the leaked Star Wars: Zero Company release date was real, and that the game will be launching on August 27 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s a bummer for the developers that the release date leaked ahead of time, but at least there was still one big surprise in store.
Why Star Wars: Zero Company is a Game for Andor and Rogue One Fans
Upcoming tactical RPG Star Wars: Zero company looks like a treat for fans of the more grounded, gritty side of Star Wars, as much as for XCOM fans.
Star Wars: Zero Company Trailer
The latest trailer for Star Wars: Zero Company ends with an appearance by Anakin Skywalker. What role Skywalker will play in the main game remains to be seen, but the confirmation that he is part of the project is very intriguing. Since Star Wars: Zero Company is set during the events of the Clone Wars, this version of Anakin has yet to turn to the Dark Side. It’s possible more information on Anakin’s role will be revealed in the months ahead, but it’s also possible that it will be kept secret until the game itself launches on August 27.

Besides revealing Anakin Skywalker, the new trailer for Star Wars: Zero Company also showed off gameplay. Players will be able to create and customize their squad and their weapons, utilize Force Powers, play as droids, and, in typical turn-based strategy fashion, grapple with the weight of permadeath. With no new XCOM game in sight, Star Wars: Zero Company looks like just the thing to help fill the void while also giving Star Wars fans a unique gaming experience.
Zero Company wasn’t the only Star Wars video game shown off at Summer Game Fest 2026. On October 6, Fuse Games and Secret Mode will be releasing the new Star Wars racing game, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, scheduled to release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Galactic Racer is offering something very different than Zero Company, but it’s great that Star Wars fans are being treated to a nice variety of games later this year.
