Gameplay from the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine is facing a very interesting comparison to 2007’s Ben 10: Protector of Earth. Some fans think that one boss fight from Marvel’s Wolverine clearly takes inspiration from the largely forgotten Ben 10 game, for better and for worse.
Marvel’s Wolverine has been met with tons of hype since its initial announcement in 2021. Insomniac Games having the opportunity to move from Spider-Man to Wolverine felt like it had enormous potential, and most of what has been shown from the game has been received positively since. However, it’s not been entirely smooth sailing, with Marvel’s Wolverine facing its fair share of nitpicks from gamers, too.
Wolverine Boss Fight Has Ben 10: Protector of Earth Vibes
Marvel’s Wolverine previews from several outlets were released this week, offering a more extensive look at the upcoming action game. One clip, which was reposted by user kaiser_drago with a side-by-side comparison of footage from Ben 10: Protector of Earth, shows Wolverine fighting a Sentinel in a big boss fight. The large Sentinel slams the ground, the player dodges it, then attacks during that window of opportunity – a near exact replica of what happens in the Ben 10: Protector of Earth clip.

While it’s clear that there are some similarities between the two, it’s also important to note that this kind of boss battle is certainly not unique and has been seen in countless games over the years. Exactly why it has drawn comparisons to Ben 10: Protector of Earth instead of any other game is unknown. It’s worth mentioning that this footage doesn’t necessarily indicate the quality of Marvel’s Wolverine‘s boss fights as a whole, either. It just means one specific boss fight follows a tried-and-tested format.
It is exactly one month until Marvel’s Wolverine is set to release on PlayStation 5, and gamers are finally learning a lot more about what to expect from the game. The official ESRB rating for Marvel’s Wolverine has painted a gory picture, with an ‘M for Mature’ rating given in part due to the intense blood and gore. Realistically, it would not be a Wolverine game without this, so it makes sense.
As for Insomniac Games, its next move remains unknown post-Wolverine. The enormous leak from the studio back in late 2023 was long enough ago to suggest its plans may well have changed significantly since then. More recent rumors would also suggest that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is in development at the studio, although this has not been confirmed.
