World of Warcraft Players are Not Happy With Patch 12.0.5

World of Warcraft Players are Not Happy With Patch 12.0.5

World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.0.5 is now live, but it has launched with a bunch of game-breaking glitches that have incensed the community. This is only the latest in a string of World of Warcraft content updates that have launched in such a state, much to the chagrin of players.

On April 21, 2026, World of Warcraft released Patch 12.0.5. The first post-launch content update introduced tons of new progression features to the game, including the Voidforge, Void Incursions, and Ritual Sites. Additionally, the Decor Duels prop hunt and Abyss Anglers roguelike fishing minigames were added, giving casual fans some fun new activities.

World of Warcraft adds a method of obtaining old mounts from the Mythic+ Keystone dungeons system for the first time in history.

World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.0.5 Is Full of Bugs

Unfortunately, this update has launched in a state many gamers describe as “unfinished.” Several threads revealing game-breaking glitches have appeared on social media, including one by SgtFolley on Reddit. In it, he outlines several bugs discovered in the first 24 hours of the update, including some major issues with Decor Duels. Not only can Hunters in World of Warcraft use Track Humanoids to identify hidden characters on the map, but some hiders are also able to move beyond the bounds of the map, becoming impossible to tag. What’s more, the game penalizes players who do not participate – but those who hide too well have reportedly been punished, as they do not move enough to earn credit.

Several other critical problems have been identified by fans in the World of Warcraft update:

  • Player Housing broke and was deactivated for nearly 24 hours.
  • Void Incursion progress bars have vanished, or the entire event fails to trigger on certain phase layers.
  • Bugs for nearly every class and specialization have appeared.
  • Voidforge gives duplicate items from Mythic+, and the first Voidforge vault purchase failed to award the right amount of currency.
  • The attack patterns of L’ura, the final boss of WoW: Midnight’s March on Quel’Danas raid, worked incorrectly.
  • Typos, visible file names, and other development artifacts have been discovered.
  • Players experienced spontaneous disconnections and login issues from the WoW servers.

Unfortunately, this is not the first WoW update to experience a launch like this. World of Warcraft: The War Within’s updates were full of bugs, with Patch 11.1.5 being an especially egregious example. In another Reddit thread by FaroraSF, which has over 300 comments and counting, fans called these updates “undercooked,” “frenetic,” and “demoralizing” – so much so, that some players have started to “dread” patch day because of how bug-ridden they have been over the last couple of years.

This seeming dip in quality assurance is likely a combination of factors. Blizzard was affected by several rounds of Microsoft layoffs over the last couple of years. Meanwhile, World of Warcraft itself has actually sped up its release cadence; The War Within was only a year and a half long, rather than the two or more years an expansion typically takes. Most WoW updates since Dragonflight have arrived roughly eight weeks after the previous one, but Patch 12.0.5 was only seven weeks after the release of WoW: Midnight on March 2. While most gamers are happy to have a steady stream of content, the consensus seems to be that it is not worth the sacrifice in quality.
