Xbox Game Pass Officially Adds Its First Game for September 2026

Shelldiver is now available on Xbox Game Pass, having debuted across multiple tiers. The colorful title marks the first September 2026 addition to the service’s content catalog and the 130th new Xbox Game Pass release this year.

While it arrives alongside a new month, Shelldiver‘s addition was formally announced as part of the Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 lineup for August 2026. Titles that straddle two months like this are typically accompanied by the following month’s first-wave announcement, but that does not appear to be the case here, as Microsoft has already passed its customary 9 a.m. ET announcement window on September 1. Given those circumstances, Shelldiver‘s arrival is almost certainly today’s only new Xbox Game Pass development.

Shelldiver Joins 3 Xbox Game Pass Tiers

Shelldiver’s Xbox Game Pass arrival spans three subscription tiers: Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. The 2025 indie title is playable across the latest two Xbox console generations and PC, in addition to offering cloud streaming support. The latest release from indie developer Gagonfe, Shelldiver is a colorful incremental adventure starring an elderly turtle who dives for jellyfish, sells its catches, and reinvests the proceeds into better equipment and other upgrades. That premise gives it some thematic and minor mechanical similarities to Dave the Diver, Mintrocket’s hit management sim that has yet to debut on Xbox Game Pass despite several rounds of rumors to the contrary.

Although the monthly Wave 1 lineup announcement is nowhere to be seen yet, Xbox Game Pass enters September 2026 with eight confirmed catalog additions and one expanded release in the form of the Moonlighter 2 console edition.
