Some users attempting to access Xbox services are currently experiencing issues, and it’s unclear how long the problem will persist. Xbox is more than just a console and some games; it is an entire ecosystem that offers a variety of services and features for users.
Xbox services rarely encounter issues, but when they do, they can affect incredibly large numbers of people. Microsoft’s gaming ecosystem hosts approximately 500 million active users per month, with players spread around the globe. And any hiccups in the smooth running of the company’s services can impact everything from users being able to play games, make digital purchases, and even interact with friends online.
Xbox Services Are Temporarily Down
Only July 23, users began reporting that they were encountering problems accessing a number of different Xbox services, including the store, cloud gaming, and social activity. Xbox has acknowledged that there is a widespread problem that is intermittently affecting a variety of features in the gaming ecosystem: store & subscriptions, friends & social activity, cloud gaming & remote play, games & gaming, and apps & mobile. The company also provided a link to its Xbox support page, where affected users can track the status of different features they are trying to access.
The Xbox status page shows that other important services are still intact and running fine. These include accessing account info, multiplayer gaming, as well as sharing and broadcasting. At the same time, many users are not experiencing any issues at all and are able to play games on PC, console, or cloud; access the store on PC or mobile; and use the Xbox app without problems.
