007 First Light Players Have Until June 30 to Claim Brand New Freebie

To celebrate the recent news out of Summer Game Fest, 007 First Light developer IO Interactive is giving away a free skin to players for the remainder of June. What’s even better is that this free skin is agnostic of platform (PC, console, etc.), so anyone who is playing 007 First Light can enjoy this freebie on whatever account they are playing on.

Of course, the news out of Summer Game Fest itself is worth celebrating. Not only did IO Interactive show off the first post-launch 007 First Light mission featuring the return of Bawma, but it also confirmed the first year roadmap. New features include, but are not limited to, New Game Plus, a dedicated Photo Mode, improvements to the Tactical Simulator, the Nintendo Switch 2 release, something special for James Bond Day (October 5), and more.

All of that is on the way, but to celebrate this upcoming 007 First Light content, players can snag a free skin courtesy of developer IO Interactive. It’s a custom skin for one of 007 First Light‘s gadgets, and it’s dubbed the Spotlight Phone Gadget Skin. It’s available on the game page for player.gg (linked above) for free, where players simply need to sign in, link their IOI account, and claim it. It is available until June 30, and while that may be plenty of time as of this writing, it’s better to act now and snag it than wait around and forget about it.

However, it’s worth noting that IO Interactive has done a handful of freebie giveaways for the game since its release, and this is not the first giveaway of this particular skin. Someone may have already unlocked it for 007 First Light during a recent TikTok promotion, so anyone who participated in that may find they already own it in-game. That said, another ongoing giveaway rewards players with the Daring Elite outfit for 007 First Light, absolutely free, through NVIDIA. These skins are obviously just little touch-ups and additions to the game, but when it’s such a good game, it’s always nice to customize and personalize to your heart’s content. Indeed, it’s been a long while since 007 First Light received any kind of game, much less a dang good game, but that’s exactly what IO Interactive delivered with this. Hopefully, the goodwill expressed by these freebies continues into the post-release world of 007 First Light and, fingers crossed, an eventual sequel.

If the freebies are a draw to buy the game (you should if you’re here but somehow haven’t), then it’s worth noting that GameRant’s 007 First Light Review said that it’s one of the “more content-rich James Bond games we’ve ever had, and it should only get better with future updates.” As the review summarized, “What’s on offer at launch is a solid, polished James Bond adventure with a memorable story and exciting action that should please most fans of the franchise.”
