Persona 6 Officially Announced

Atlus and Sega have officially announced Persona 6 during the latest Xbox Games Showcase. The long-awaited reveal ends the longest gap between mainline entries in the series’ history, with Persona 6 set to usher the hit JRPG franchise into its fourth decade.

Persona 5 turns 10 on September 15. While rumors about its sequel have been rampant for years, late May 2026 marked a turning point for fan speculation, as that is when legitimate-looking Persona 6 assets started leaking online, signaling that the project was close to the finish line. Industry insider Nate The Hate subsequently reported that the JRPG would be formally announced during Microsoft’s next big gaming event in late spring.

Persona 6 Announcement Ends Record-Long Wait

The leaked timing for the Persona 6 reveal proved accurate, with Sega and Atlus officially announcing the project during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7. The move ended what was by far the longest wait for a new mainline entry in the series, a gap that spanned about one-third of the franchise’s history. The final record stands at 12 years, three months, and 13 days based on the first Persona 5 teaser, or nine years, eight months, and 23 days counting from the original release date of the iconic RPG.
