Destiny 2 Has a Major Glitch Affecting Champions

Destiny 2 Has a Major Glitch Affecting Champions

Destiny 2 might have a major bug that is making some Champions nearly impossible to deal with in endgame content. Ever since their addition to Destiny 2, Champions have been controversial and even game-breaking at times. Between the loadout restriction with Artifact mods only affecting some specific weapon types for each Champion and Champions being problematic in some content, they were never really easy to deal with, either for players or developers. For example, Unstoppable Champions sometimes play the stun noise but are not actually stunned if the stun happens as they are jumping up or down.

Bugs in Destiny 2 can at times be very hard to fix, as they involve multiple layers of gameplay issues or coding, and Bungie has occasionally disabled items or modifiers for a short time before finding a fix to smooth things out. However, in this case, it’s not something that can realistically happen. After the mass layoffs at Bungie affecting most of Destiny 2‘s team, and considering that Bungie and Sony decided not to allocate any more resources to the looter-shooter, any bug can become much harder to fix, if at all possible. For this reason, some items will be permanently affected, such as how Destiny 2 permanently disabled Divinity against Insurrection Prime.

Destiny 2 is Officially Disabling Two Armor Sets Permanently

With Destiny 2 entering end-of-service and the entire team being laid off, the upcoming hotfix will disable two new armor sets permanently.

Destiny 2 Barrier Champions Are a Nightmare in GM and Ultimate Activities

Destiny 2‘s Barrier Champions are currently extremely hard to stun with Primary weapons, as reported on social media by renowned content creator Cheese Forever. GameRant was able to verify this in the game, and Grandmaster or Ultimate activities with Barrier Champions make their shields very hard to break with Primary weapons. In fact, only some Primaries can break the shields, and only Exotic Primaries have an easier time — though they don’t one-shot shields, even when they used to, such as with Wish-Ender. Legendary weapons in Destiny 2 will break a shield easily if they use Special or Power ammo, but take a very long time or simply can’t if they use Primary ammo. In endgame content, this can easily brick a run.

Cheese Forever has tagged the Destiny 2 Team account on Twitter, but Bungie has yet to reply. It’s unclear whether this is a bug or intended behavior, but considering how little damage even Exotic Primary weapons deal to Barrier shields, it’s much more likely to be the former. There are ways to circumvent the glitch for the time being, but they do require players to be aware and change their builds for activities with Barrier Champions. Destiny 2‘s Praxic Blade is Anti-Barrier, intrinsically, and so are several Legendary sniper rifles, fusion rifles, shotguns, glaives, swords, and rocket launchers. These weapons use Special and Power ammo, so breaking shields often happens in one or two hits, as opposed to a full magazine or more for Primaries.

Only a handful of the best Raid Exotics in Destiny 2 have intrinsic Anti-Barrier shots, but more Dungeon Exotics do have them. Cheese Forever mentioned how Revizion Zero from Operation Seraph Shield in Destiny 2 didn’t break a shield before almost running out of ammo in the magazine, and for Exotic Primaries, this should not be the case. Most Primaries take the full magazine and then some to break a shield, but Barrier Champions will likely finish their shield animation before it happens, making them impossible to stun.

With no stun, Champions are hard to deal with because they take reduced damage, hence making some endgame activities harder. Luckily, not all glitches are harmful, and Destiny 2 has a new glitch to farm T5 armor quickly and easily by filling the Engram inventory, completing Master Lost Sectors like the one on Nessus, and then decrypting the Engrams at the Postmaster in the Tower to get Ferropotent and Smoke Jumper armor.
