Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is Very Good News for AC Hexe

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is Very Good News for AC Hexe

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is still pretty much brand new, and yet the traction it has generated for Assassin’s Creed Hexe is noteworthy. Of course, there is some predictable negativity (as there appears to be with every Assassin’s Creed release) around the microtransactions and beyond, and not everyone is going to have the same overall opinion on the game. There’s also Ubisoft’s shifty tactics to consider, including the layoffs of devs at Ubisoft Barcelona, but the synergy between Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced and AC Hexe is undeniable.

It’s worth noting that this also manifests in the recently released remake. In its new modern-day storyline, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced players have spotted a clear Easter egg teaser for Assassin’s Creed Hexe, showcasing a German cathedral (the St. Lawrence) alongside other key architecture from recent AC games (the Pyramid, a Japanese castle, and so forth). This in-game synergy is no doubt going to manifest in the upcoming reveal and eventual release of AC Hexe.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Trick Makes Beating Legendary Ships Easier

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced players trying to beat the Legendary Ships should keep one old trick in mind.

Black Flag Resynced’s Wins Are Replicable in AC Hexe

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced appears to be a commercial success: 2 million sales in 24 hours reported, the aforementioned microtransactions have reportedly pulled in $1 million already, and it has set franchise records for concurrent players on Steam. Critically, it sits at an 84 Metascore on review aggregate website Metacritic, earning it Generally Favorable reviews. In Game Rant’s own review of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, we wrote that Ubisoft has never been creatively better than the way it has built on the original game. And all of this success may not carry over to the next game if it were an open-world RPG, but it’s a different Assassin’s Creed experience, one still more rooted in the classic experience recreated in Black Flag Resynced.

Beyond the aforementioned teaser, Ubisoft has confirmed very few concrete details about AC Hexe. Most of the known details (the German Witch Hunt setting, for example) were derived from hidden teasers in the original announcement trailer. Combined with some semi-reliable rumors around Assassin’s Creed Hexe, fans can piece together key points: a darker take on the franchise than usual, not being an open-world RPG, a unique conflict around Witchcraft and Witch hunts, and a display of Ubisoft Montreal’s writing skills. Indeed, what many fans may be unaware of is that Black Flag 2013‘s development was led by Ubisoft Montreal, and Ubisoft Montreal is the lead studio on Hexe. In other words, fans saw a glimpse of Ubisoft Montreal’s past reworked from the ground up in Black Flag Resynced, and it sets the stage for its future in Hexe.

Some Ubisoft Montreal developers who worked on Black Flag 2013 have no doubt left the studio, but several key figures, like Darby McDevitt, are currently at the studio.

Whether or not AC Hexe can live up to the high bar set by Black Flag Resynced remains to be seen, but the good news is that the wait isn’t too long. While it is not outright confirmed, it seems Assassin’s Creed Hexe will release in 2027—with Ubisoft recently reporting that 2026 will be a slow year for the company after Black Flag Resynced’s release. It’s unknown what else Ubisoft has up its sleeve, but a magic track here is not impossible.

The bigger question, if the above is true, is when Assassin’s Creed Hexe will be revealed. Leaks suggest that it’ll be sooner than some fans think, but there does appear to be a perfect stage coming up. If AC Hexe is set in Germany, as it is believed, then it’s hard to imagine a better stage to reveal the new game than at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany. Fans shouldn’t hold their breath, but it would not be surprising.
