Footage from the intro of the canceled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link game has surfaced online. The now-defunct Kingdom Hearts mobile title was set to bridge the gap between Kingdom Hearts 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4, but development was stopped, and the project shut down back in 2025. However, the game’s intro cinematic has now leaked, giving fans a chance to see how the game’s story might have unfolded, and it’s truly something bizarre, even for Kingdom Hearts.
Since the announcement of Missing-Link‘s cancellation, the Kingdom Hearts series has remained somewhat quiet. Kingdom Hearts 4 showed signs of life when a new trailer debuted during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, but even then only showed more of Sora in Quadratum along with a few characters from a Kingdom Hearts game that can’t be played anymore. Now that this footage from Missing-Link has surfaced, fans are trying to piece together the cryptic imagery it contains for any kind of clue about how it would have connected to Kingdom Hearts 4‘s story.
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link’s Intro Has Leaked
In a post from X user kijuler, the entire five-minute intro cutscene for Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link can be viewed. This cutscene features some very strange imagery, focusing on a group of Keyblade wielders wearing futuristic diving suits. The group battles what appears to be the same massive Heartless that Sora can be seen fighting in the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailers. After defeating this monster, the darkness surrounding it fades away to reveal the world of Quadratum, leaving more questions than answers about this mysterious group and their connection to Sora’s story.

This intro cinematic was allegedly found via an in-development build that was unintentionally accessible during the Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link beta that took place back in 2024. It ends by jumping back to Scala ad Caelum, showing characters from past Kingdom Hearts mobile games like Sigurd and Brain. The Kingdom Hearts franchise has always been infamous for its often complex and convoluted storytelling. However, what is shown in this Missing-Link cutscene looks more like something out of Death Stranding than Kingdom Hearts.
The leaked Missing-Link intro footage has left Kingdom Hearts fans scratching their heads as to what the game’s story could have possibly been about and who these astronaut-like Keyblade wielders really are. Some fans speculate that parts of Missing-Link‘s story could be integrated into Kingdom Hearts 4, so fans may get an explanation eventually. Other X users suggested that this game was intentionally canceled to be a true missing link in the Kingdom Hearts series timeline.
While it’s unclear if the truth of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link‘s story will ever come to light, Kingdom Hearts fans still have a glimmer of hope to hold onto. More information on Kingdom Hearts 4 is scheduled to be shared during Disney’s upcoming D23 event on August 15. It’s unclear what will be shown during this event, but a Kingdom Hearts deep dive is planned for 4:30 PM PT that day. Past D23 showcases have revealed new Kingdom Hearts information, so it’s very likely more KH4 details will be revealed here.
