World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5 Has a Surprise For Demon Hunters and Evokers

World of Warcraft Patch 12.0.5 Has a Surprise For Demon Hunters and Evokers

World of Warcraft: Midnight Patch 12.0.5 introduces Void-colored eye customizations for Demon Hunters, as well as the ability to automatically shift back to Visage form in combat for Evokers. These new cosmetic features are expected to launch as a part of the upcoming World of Warcraft 12.0.5 update.

One of the most exciting parts of World of Warcraft: Midnight was the addition of the Devourer Demon Hunter, the class’ third specialization that focuses on ranged combat. The Devourer spec completely reskins the class, with every Demon Hunter ability in World of Warcraft getting a Void-themed blue makeover. Despite this, Demon Hunters were still stuck with bright Fel-green eyes.

Now, World of Warcraft is getting ready to fix this in its next content update. As of a recent build of the Patch 12.0.5 Public Test Realm, several Void-themed Demon Hunter customizations have been added to the game. Additionally, a new feature for Evokers called Battle Visage is coming soon, though it is currently not available for testing.

Void Customization Options For Demon Hunters

The core aspect of the new Demon Hunter customizations is the option for blue eyes in addition to the default green ones. However, the class can also select whether they have the default Demon Hunter flame effects or the typical Elvish glow. These options are available for all three Demon Hunter races – Blood Elf, Void Elf, and Night Elf – regardless of which WoW Demon Hunter specialization they choose.

However, Void Elf Demon Hunters in World of Warcraft got a little extra love as well. Many of their blindfold options, which were previously identical to the red and gold options of the Blood Elves, have been recolored into black, white, silver, and blue to match their aesthetic. What’s more, any green gemstones present on these veils will change to blue to match eye color selection on both Void Elves and Blood Elves.

Currently, Dracthyr Evokers can use the Chosen Identity ability in World of Warcraft to stay in their humanoid Visage forms in combat. That said, using certain abilities like Wing Buffet, Tail Swipe, Hover, and any Breath attacks shifts them into their Dracthyr forms, as they require a draconic anatomy. They automatically revert to Visage form when combat ends, but remain in Dracthyr form until then.

Using the new Battle Visage ability, Evokers will still shift into their Dracthyr forms to use these abilities, but will immediately change back to Visage form afterward. This will enable Dracthyr to dynamically swap back and forth between their two forms in battle, which is something fans have wanted for a long time. The system still has some kinks to work out with camera positioning due to height differences between forms, but it should be available to test soon, and is expected to arrive in Patch 12.0.5.

While the first post-launch update for World of Warcraft: Midnight doesn’t have a release date yet, Blizzard’s past release cadence gives players a good guess. There are usually about eight weeks between each update; considering Midnight‘s full release was on March 2, fans can probably expect the next big update on or around April 28.

World of Warcraft Players Customization Wish List

While these new customizations are exciting, they beg the question of when fans can expect other often-requested options to arrive. There are many customization options players have wished for over the years, including:

  • Death Knight eye color choice
  • Upright postures for Undead and Trolls
  • Facial hair for Trolls
  • Eyebrows options for orcs
  • Consolidation of options between similar core and allied races in World of Warcraft
  • Alternative spell effects and animations

That Void Elf and Devourer Demon Hunters are getting these options is great, but it echoes the pattern of attention World of Warcraft has given the Haranir allied race introduced in Midnight; fresh content gets all the love, while existing classes and races fall by the wayside. Still, this is a big step in the right direction, and Blizzard has confirmed a large customization overhaul of some kind is in the works. Hopefully, fans will continue to see small customization updates like this until it arrives.
