Pokemon Pokopia Gets Official New Update for April 2026

Nintendo released update 1.0.3 for Pokemon Pokopia, a patch that continues to improve the overall experience with fixes for common player issues. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, Pokemon Pokopia has become a smash hit for Koei Tecmo and Nintendo, reminding many fans of a similar lightning in a bottle moment experienced with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It’ll be interesting to see how long this momentum can carry Pokopia, but in the meantime, Nintendo attempts to keep interest high thanks to post-launch updates and events.

In fact, one advantage Pokopia seems to have over Animal Crossing New Horizon is that the game seems to get more updates at a faster cadence. While New Horizons had unique events built in for certain days, such as special encounters or vendors appearing on a schedule, Pokemon Pokopia has already seen limited-time events offering exclusive rewards. Alongside free downloads, fans also saw special events like April Fools’ Day, which added a Copycat Challenge that eventually awarded an inflatable Sudowoodo as a prize. The latest update for Pokemon Pokopia doesn’t add any new content, but it should help make the experience more stable.

Pokemon Pokopia’s Next Big Event is Set for April 29

Pokemon Pokopia players looking forward to the game’s next event should be sure to circle April 29 on their calendars.

Nintendo released Update 1.0.3 for Pokemon Pokopia to further address issues impacting the title. Similar to how Pokemon Pokopia teased future improvements, this latest patch continues hammering away on bugs and other potential progress blockers. Specifically, players were running into an issue where Pokemon habitats who had disappeared were no longer found anywhere in the game, even after using the Pokedex’s search feature.

In addition, the patch tackles some other odd behaviors, such as players suddenly becoming stuck in Palette Town, unable to return to the original location. Players will no longer experience an issue where the controller vibrated continuously, and a unique issue that resulted in keeping the screen of the Switch 2 dark after moving between towns right as the in-game date changed. Various requests have also been fixed, such as “Power up the charging station!” and the seasonal Pokemon on Pokopia‘s Cloud Islands will no longer disappear randomly.

For many fans and players, there’s a major question of what’s next for the game. Following Pokemon Pokopia‘s impressive sales numbers, it’s assumed that NIntendo will aim to keep that momentum going through bigger post-launch content releases later in 2026 and likely into 2027 as well.

While the company hasn’t specifically mentioned anything, it hasn’t stopped fans from theorizing what an expansion or other post-launch content could look like. Considering Pokemon Pokopia takes place in a unique version of the Kanto region, it’s possible that Nintendo could continue to add locations that ultimately didn’t make it into the base game, such as the Seafoam Islands. Naturally, more locations mean more Pokemon to find as well, with many of the original 151 still missing from the experience. Outside of dedicated content additions, it’s possible that NIntendo could also opt to continue adding important quality of life additions as well, though fans would likely enjoy seeing that content be applied through a free update rather than gated behind a DLC paywall.

Pokemon Pokopia Update 1.0.3 Patch Notes

We have implemented improvements to address the following issues:

  • In some cases, Pokémon whose habitats have disappeared cannot be found even when searching for them using the “Search” function in the Pokédex.

Additionally, the following issues have been fixed.

If these issues have already occurred in your game, applying this update will resolve them.

  • When traveling to a Dream Island under certain circumstances, you arrive at Palette Town and are unable to return to the original town.
  • When moving between towns or when the in-game date changes, the screen remains dark, making it difficult to operate the game.
  • If you perform certain actions, it becomes impossible to relocate Pokémon habitats.
  • If construction is carried out in a certain way, building projects will not be completed until the in-game date changes.
  • In Bleak Beach, performing certain actions prevents progress during the request “Power up the charging station!”
  • In the Sparkling Skylands, performing certain actions causes the Pokémon that you requested construction help from to be removed, making it difficult to progress the request to rebuild the huge building.
  • On Cloud Islands, performing certain actions causes seasonal Pokémon to disappear from the town and Cloud Island.
  • When creating a new Cloud Island, an error occurs and the island cannot be created.

Some of the following issues have been partially fixed, making them less likely to occur.

  • By performing certain actions, the controller vibrates continuously.
