Pokemon fans can look forward to Night Out and Day Out events this year, which seem to be aimed at different age groups. After three decades, the Pokemon franchise has established a wide range of fans, from those that have been invested since the Game Boy era, to those that discovered it more recently. The Pokemon Company is often looking for ways to please both of these segments of the fandom.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Pokemon Red and Green, and 2026 has seen a lot to celebrate in a short amount of time. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen came to Nintendo Switch in February, offering a dose of nostalgia for older fans, and a chance for newcomers to play a pair of older games for the first time.

Pokemon’s Night Out and Day Out Events
The Pokemon Company has announced new events for fans to check out throughout 2026. Pokemon Night Out events will be held in Los Angeles on October 24, and in London on November 10. These events will feature live performances by DJs Alison Wonderland and Marshmello, and attendees can expect to see Pokemon-themed visuals during their performances. Tickets for the event will go on sale on April 17, and attendees can expect to see new merchandise, as well. None of the items have been revealed, but there will likely be products featuring the special art created for the promotional material.
In a video on Twitter, Marshmello talked about Pokemon‘s special Night Out events, and how this is all part of the 30th anniversary celebration. The DJ says that he grew up with the series, and that attendees can expect to see “a very special, very curated, unique set.” He went on to note that there was a lot of thought put into making the music work alongside the “visual moments that we have planned.” No stranger to video game-themed performances, Marshmello performed a concert in Fortnite in 2019.
Electronic dance music with Pokemon visuals probably won’t appeal to parents looking for something more family-friendly. However, it seems Pokemon Day Out events are meant to offer just that. The Day Out events will take place in New York City, Dresden, Boredeaux, and Mexico City this summer, but dates and details are limited at this time. Pokemon Champions was released on Nintendo Switch this month, so it’s possible the Day Out events could highlight the game, alongside Pokopia. However, that’s just speculation until additional information is revealed.

Between new game releases, older games coming to Nintendo Switch, and in-person events, there have been a lot of unique ways for fans to celebrate Pokemon‘s 30th anniversary. It’s a big milestone for a franchise that many assumed would be a fad when it first found success in North America. The Pokemon Company clearly has more plans in store for the rest of 2026, but many people are already looking ahead to 2027. Pokemon Winds and Waves will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 next year, kicking off the 10th generation for the franchise.
