A Pokemon Pokopia fan shared a new hotel they remade in Bleak Beach to give the seaside town a fresh start, as they took down two homes and built the two-story hotel on top of the old site. The Pokemon Pokopia player then stated that the boardwalk hotel in Bleak Beach was inspired by a similar building they made in another Nintendo title.
Pokemon Pokopia is currently one of the top-rated games of 2026, and the highest-rated Switch 2 exclusive game of the year so far. Although physical copies of Pokemon Pokopia were released on Nintendo’s controversial Game-Key Card format, that has not stopped Pokopia from selling over 2.2 million units within four days of its release. Since its launch, Pokemon Pokopia has hosted some limited-time events for players to find new Pokemon, with Bulbasaur’s Jump Rope Contest now running until April 26.

Pokopia Player Builds Fancy Bleak Beach Boardwalk Hotel
Given that Pokopia players can let their imaginations run wild with new habitats for Pokemon to call home, one home builder chose the devastated sands of Bleak Beach to show off their latest effort. On the Pokopia subreddit, content creator TheBarkenos shared a before-and-after image of their Bleak Beach project. They started by taking down two wrecked homes on Bleak Beach’s boardwalk, located on the far side of town. TheBarkenos then remade the boardwalk’s main flooring by replacing the sand and missing tiles with patches of grass and some bricks. The hotel they made is a two-story habitat that several Pokemon can dwell in, and decorations like beach chairs, bicycles, and trees were placed throughout the hotel’s main lawn. Additional fence posts encircled the Pokopia hotel plot, which could be accessed by using Surf or Magnet Rise.
TheBarkenos stated that they used their experience from Animal Crossing: New Horizons for their Pokopia hotel build. The hotel maker stated that, despite being two separate IPs, Pokemon Pokopia and Animal Crossing: New Horizons have some similarities when it comes to home designs. TheBarkenos shared a comparison between their Bleak Beach hotel build and their island getaway from ACNH. Although the roofs of both buildings are of different sizes, the main ideas behind TheBarkenos’ handiwork were easy to spot.
Pokopia’s Limits Don’t Stop Players From Crafting Impressive Homes
The Bleak Beach hotel by TheBarkenos is even more impressive when considering the limitations that Pokemon Pokopia players have to work around. As of this writing, Pokemon Pokopia has a limit of 10 blocks per side, making it difficult for a large mansion to be utilized as a Pokemon habitat. However, Pokopia players can work around this unfortunate limitation by dividing the floors and rooms within a large house into smaller habitats with enclosures no bigger than 10 blocks a side. It remains to be seen if the Pokemon Pokopia development team will address this issue or if it will remain as is.
