A Nintendo Presentation is Coming This Week, But There’s a Catch

Nintendo fans will receive a new presentation this week, as the gaming giant confirmed that an Indie World Showcase will air on Tuesday, March 3. The upcoming Nintendo broadcast will focus on indie titles coming to the Switch and Switch 2 throughout 2026 and beyond, meaning first-party Nintendo games and titles from large developers will not appear during the show.

The upcoming Indie World Showcase will arrive one month after the February 5 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase went live. The previous Partner Showcase shared a glimpse of the third-party titles launching on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 throughout 2026, including ports of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, and Pragmata. Indie titles like Hollow Knight and Valheim were also present in the Partner Showcase. The last Indie World Showcase episode aired in August 2025 and gave Nintendo fans a look at titles like Mina the Hollower, Glaciered, and UFO 50.

Nearly $2 Billion in Nintendo Stock Is About to Change Hands

Close to $2 billion worth of Nintendo stock is set to change hands as part of ‘unwinding’ efforts that don’t come around too often.

Nintendo Shares Indie World Showcase Details

  • Airing Tuesday, March 3, at 9:00 AM Eastern/6:00 AM Pacific

Although the first week of March is already a busy time for Nintendo, highlighted by the March 5 launch of the highly-rated Pokemon Pokopia, fans eager for more gaming news will soon get their wish. Nintendo confirmed on its official social media pages that an Indie World Showcase will air Tuesday, March 3, at 9:00 AM Eastern, on the official Nintendo YouTube and Twitch pages, and the Nintendo Today mobile app. The showcase will last approximately 15 minutes and will cover various indie titles arriving on the Switch and Switch 2 over the coming months. Ergo, fans waiting for more news about first-party Nintendo IPs like Mario and The Legend of Zelda will have to wait a little longer for more information.

What Could Be Shown Off During the Indie World Showcase?

In response to Nintendo’s social media post about the Indie World Showcase, fans chimed in with their guesses on what could be shown off during the presentation. A few fans stated that Hollow Knight: Silksong‘s free DLC, Sea of Sorrow, could make an appearance during the Indie World Showcase. Team Cherry announced that the Sea of Sorrow expansion would arrive sometime in 2026 across all supported platforms, and some screenshots indicated that the DLC would have a distinct feel compared to the base version of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Given that Sea of Sorrow will take place in an underwater setting, it remains to be seen what dangers and monstrous foes await players who delve into the expansion once it arrives.

Additionally, Mina the Hollower appeared during the August 2025 Indie World Showcase, just months before its release date was delayed. During the February 13 State of Play, Mina the Hollower returned to the spotlight, as developer Yacht Club Games confirmed that its new release window was Spring 2026. Given that spring will start just a few weeks after the upcoming Indie World Showcase airs, it is possible that Mina the Hollower could appear during the show to give fans a more precise timeline for when the game will finally reach players’ hands.

The Indie World Showcase will air after other indie games shared news that also concerns Nintendo console players. The hit roguelike card game Balatro shadow dropped its Switch 2 port on Wednesday, February 25. LocalThunk and Playstack confirmed that users who already owned an original Switch copy of Balatro would receive the Switch 2 version at no additional cost. Additionally, Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone confirmed that Sandy and Clint would be the game’s newest marriage candidates once the version 1.7 update goes live. As of this writing, Stardew Valley version 1.7 is still in development and has no definitive release window.

All in all, given the sheer variety of indie games out there on current-gen platforms, the surprises Nintendo and its indie partners could show off during the Indie World Showcase should be worth tuning into. Time will tell what is eventually revealed.
