Pokemon Pokopia took the Nintendo Switch 2 and greater internet Pokemon community by storm when it released in March, and it seems that it’ll attempt to maintain that strong interest through a rollout of DLC over the next year or so. With Pokemon Winds and Waves releasing in late 2027, the general belief is that Pokopia DLC serves as a bit of a buffer.
It’s worth noting that all rumors and leaks live and die by their source, and while this info is aggregated by Centro Leaks, the true source is about as sharp as it comes: Game Freak itself. The Teraleak 2 included documents from 2024 outlining content plans for every single in-development Pokemon game, including Pokopia, and it included launch and DLC plans for the beloved life sim title. While some of this may have changed since their inclusion of the documents, the live version of the game is close enough to said documentation that fans can reliably expect to learn more about these biomes in the coming weeks or months.
Revisiting the Teraleak 2 After Pokemon Winds and Waves’ Reveal
Last year’s Teraleak 2 claimed to reveal what features to expect in Pokemon Winds and Waves, and here’s what it has gotten right so far.
New DLC Locations in Pokopia
- A Burning Forest
- A Flooded City
- A Dead Volcanic Island
- A Decaying Tower
- A Giant Crater
Leaks also suggest these will be released one at a time.
According to the Teraleak 2 (via Centro Leaks), five new locations/biomes will roll out for Pokopia: a permanently burning forest filled with ash (based on Viridian City and Viridian Forest), a flooded city filled with hidden treasure (based on Cerulean City), a dead volcanic island (based on Cinnabar Island), a tall, decaying, and rotting tower reaching into the sky (based on Lavender Town), and a a giant crater that reaches an incredible depth (located in the Celadon area). For additional context, Pokopia‘s in-game areas are obviously based on Kanto locations: Fuchsia City, Vermillion City, Pewter City, and Saffron City.

Obviously, new biomes/locations are only going to be part of the formula. While unconfirmed as of this writing, Pokopia players could be treated to new teases about the ending, new story content, new Pokemon (Kanto and beyond), unique mechanics, and other quality-of-life/cosmetic additions. New Pokemon is the big one, but it’s uncertain what will be added at this time. Still, it’s only a matter of when/if this Pokopia DLC is formally announced.
This is not to be confused with new or ongoing events in Pokopia, which fans can expect to roll out on holidays or otherwise give players new tasks/Pokemon for a limited time. Sableye’s Gem Hunt is currently ongoing in Pokopia, until May 4, and previous events included More Spores for Hoppip, the Copycat Challenge on April Fools’ Day, and Bullbasaur’s Jump Rope Contest. These will no doubt continue throughout this year and next, likely even in the new regions as they come to the game.

It’ll be a good way to stay busy at least. There is a ton of hype behind Gen 10, but the release cycle changes for Pokemon Winds and Waves mean fans are going longer without a mainline title than they ever have. Pokopia‘s DLC rollout fits in perfectly to entertain fans throughout 2026 and early 2027.
