Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Reveal Window Leaks Online

Recent weeks have not been kind to Ubisoft employees, with employees ultimately going on strike due to studio closures, video game cancellations, and a five-day return-to-office policy. For some fans, the silver lining (if it can be called that) is that the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake is still reportedly in development, if subject to an unknown delay. Now, a new report suggests when fans will see it.

It’s worth noting that the remake, reportedly called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, survived a massive wave of cancellations at the company. Perhaps this is due to the fan demand for it, as well as the supposed quality, but several others did not survive. While not outright confirmed in every case, the canceled Ubisoft games include Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, Project Aether, Project Pathfinder, Project Crest, Assassin’s Creed Singularity (codename), and Assassin’s Creed Rebellion (a mobile game where Ubisoft reportedly canceled all future support plans).

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Will Reportedly Be Revealed in April

It remains to be seen how the dust settles from the strikes and impact on employees, but at least some Ubisoft developers are still hard at work on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw reported in the outlet’s weekly podcast that it is still in development, alleviating fears, and said that it would be revealed sometime in April 2026. His report lines up with mentions by known insider Shinobi602, who said that the Black Flag remake would not be at the recent State of Play but that a reveal would be sooner rather than later. April fits nicely into this window.

Of course, while both Straw and Shinobi are known figures with proven track records, such claims should be taken with a grain of salt. Anything could change in-game development, pushing back this reveal, or it could be that the insiders and/or their unknown sources are wrong. Still, given everything going on around the game and Ubisoft, April makes sense.

Indeed, Ubisoft still has not officially confirmed that the remake is even in development. It’s essentially the company’s worst-kept secret, however, as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been subject to numerous rumors and leaks, although some sources are more reliable than others. That said, Ubisoft has taken certain actions that given many rumors and leaks credence.

For example, when Edward Kenway actor Matt Ryan teased a fan in June 2025 that a remake could be in the works. Ubisoft reportedly “threatened to sue” Ryan over the tease. Earlier this year (and much lighter in tone), the official Ubisoft Twitter account responded to a popular fan account (Zephryss) that shared a new, leaked statue of Edward Kenway. The Ubisoft account posted the iconic “Here we go again” screenshot from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. That doesn’t confirm much, of course, and is likely in reference to the ongoing fan demand for the game, but even acknowledging the leak is encouraging action from Ubisoft.

If So, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Likely Launches Near the End of 2026

If Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is revealed in April, it’ll be interesting to see how Ubisoft markets it further. There could be a Ubisoft Forward this summer, and no doubt Black Flag would be at the head of that ship if so. It’d likely release sometime in the fall or winter, ending the year for Ubisoft on a strong note (if well done and well-received). Indeed, its popularity alone likely means it’ll sell very well.

There could be an appeal to shadow-dropping it alongside this April reveal. While such actions are inherently risky, a strong showcase followed by a shadow drop would send AC fans flocking to it in April. Such actions, following the weeks of rumors and leaks, would also make more sense than for some other games. But for now, fans just have to wait for Ubisoft to show its hand.
