Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been a big hit for Ubisoft, and the game’s director has now confirmed that the team is officially working on a New Game Plus mode. For a game like Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, adding a feature like New Game Plus is a fantastic decision, but Ubisoft is hopefully going to bring it to players sooner, rather than later. As great as Black Flag Resynced is, the game is working on a short timeline when it comes to being relevant.
There is a lot happening in gaming right now. Granted, Black Flag Resynced is one of the biggest releases of the summer, but the rest of the year is quickly becoming packed with juggernauts that are bound to overshadow the Assassin’s Creed remake. New Game Plus brings a great replayability factor to games, and the feature needs to be added to Black Flag Resynced while the iron is hot.
Adding New Game Plus to Black Flag Resynced May Not Matter in the Long Run If Fans Have to Wait
The main problem with adding New Game Plus to a game far after its launch is that players are often occupied with a fresh game by the time the update comes along. Director Richard Knight confirmed that the dev team is now actively working on the mode, but the timing makes it more worrisome than exciting. The team has just recently begun work on the New Game Plus mode, and that implies that there will be a significant waiting period.

There’s no way to know right now how big Black Flag Resynced‘s New Game Plus mode will be, but it hopefully brings a solid amount of fresh activities to the table. Black Flag Resynced‘s new content already makes the world an incredibly exciting place to explore. However, the expectations surrounding New Game Plus have increased over the years. A New Game Plus mode that has plenty of extra content could take a while to make, and Black Flag Resynced is bound to be out of the spotlight by then.

Frankly, it’s going to be overwhelming trying to pick which games to dive into first. Marvel’s Wolverine on PS5 has been anticipated for years at this point, and The Blood of Dawnwalker is the new kid on the block that could prove itself as a great new IP.
Based on Richard Knight’s words, it sounds highly unlikely that Black Flag Resynced‘s New Game Plus will be ready before the fall. Black Flag Resynced‘s sales numbers are great, and both critics and players have sung plenty of praises. However, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to hold people’s attention in this day and age. With so many new releases on the way, a lot of players might jump ship in the coming months.
After November 2026, Black Flag Resynced’s New Game Plus Is Unlikely to Make Major Waves
Now, it’s time to address the Rockstar-sized elephant in the room. GTA 6‘s launch is set for November 19, and it’s created a massive hole in the game release calendar. The latter half of the year has basically become a wasteland, because no developer wants to be anywhere near the GTA 6 splash zone. With the insane amount of hype that is surrounding GTA 6, that’s more than understandable, and it’s going to be fascinating to see just how far out that splash zone stretches.
Games like Fable getting delayed to February 2027 is a further example of the effect that GTA 6 has had on the industry. With GTA 6‘s tsunami-sized wave set to crash down in November and Fable making its long-awaited return in early 2027, there won’t be much room for Black Flag Resynced to find its way back in the limelight. The fanfare will have died down by then, and only die-hard fans will be the ones paying attention and anticipating the New Game Plus mode’s arrival.
The 2027 calendar is already starting to fill up, too. In addition to Fable, The Wolf Among Us 2, Spyro: A Realm Beyond, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and Metro 2039 are confirmed for next year. There are also hopes that Naughty Dog’s mysterious sci-fi adventure Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet comes out sometime in 2027, but that remains to be seen.
The Next Assassin’s Creed Game Needs New Game Plus at Launch
With how popular New Game Plus is, it’s surprising that the feature isn’t being added to Black Flag Resynced until later down the road. Regardless of when the mode gets added, it will be an exciting upgrade. However, the longer players have to wait, the less impact this kind of Black Flag Resynced update will have. The good news is that if Black Flag Resynced‘s New Game Plus mode comes and goes without much hype, Ubisoft can use this as a learning opportunity.

The next anticipated entry in the series is expected to be Assassin’s Creed Hexe. A new leak claims that Assassin’s Creed Hexe‘s release date is expected to be June 2027. Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed this, so these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, but the dev team behind the game hopefully has New Game Plus included at launch. Only time will tell, but it would be a great way to offer players something extra right out the gate instead of them having to wait when there are so many games to look forward to. It’s a bummer that Black Flag Resynced‘s New Game Plus might be far off, but the remake as a whole is making the Assassin’s Creed franchise’s future look brighter.
