Battlefield 6 Addresses BF Pro Bonus Path Player Frustrations

Battlefield 6 Addresses BF Pro Bonus Path Player Frustrations

As part of the Battlefield 6 January 20 update, EA and Battlefield Studios also announced that a new fix has been released for the progression issues stemming from the recent BF Pro Bonus Path rewards. After a hot start at launch, Battlefield 6 has hit a rough patch as of late, with player numbers dropping considerably from where they were in the first month. In addition to competition from other games, Battlefield 6 has seen its fair share of issues of late, likely leading to the downturn while players wait for improvements.

Player frustration has seemingly been brewing for a while, with many longtime players unhappy with the current sizes of the maps in game, while rewards on offer, including numerous cosmetic skins, have earned the community’s ire over what is perceived to be missing the mark on the developer’s promise of “grounded” style outfits. Regardless, EA appears to be taking player feedback seriously, even delaying the Season 2 start of Battlefield 6 further into February. Thankfully, one particularly big frustration for fans is also being resolved alongside the January 20 update.

Battlefield 6 Player Count is Down 89% From Its Peak

While it was one of the biggest releases of 2025, it seems like Battlefield 6 is seriously struggling to maintain its player count.

Battlefield 6 January 20 Update Gets Added Bonus Fix

Battlefield 6‘s BF Pro Bonus Path, a premium upgrade that offers even more rewards to players beyond the typical Battle Pass, came under fire this month from players. The Pro Bonus Path gave players 7 days to complete all 10 tiers, which meant that the majority of the player base likely wouldn’t have enough time to fully complete it. In addition to many players feeling like the final unlockable skin ripped off a logo from Call of Duty, the big problem is that most players would likely need to spend Tier Skips or Battlefield Coins to unlock all 10 tiers, essentially forcing them to spend real money to do so.

The feedback has clearly reached EA as the official Battlefield Comms account posted an update regarding the Pro Path progression, which should please players. As part of Battlefield 6‘s January 20 Update, all eligible players will be granted the path rewards from the BF Pro Pass through the in-game mailbox. While the pass has since expired, this change ensures that players who were blocked from finishing it will get access to the rewards they’re owed. Unfortunately, it doesn’t indicate if future passes will be better tuned to prevent something like this from happening again.

Ultimately, this issue stems from a larger problem facing the game regarding the grind that players are forced into. Battlefield 6 has struggled with balancing its grind since launch, with the studios constantly tweaking elements of the core gameplay, such as making challenges easier and faster to complete. Many comments on the post itself continue to highlight the grindy nature of Battlefield 6, reducing the fun for some, while others with busier schedules just can’t keep up or commit to the constant churn. Others were left wondering if the used Tier Skips would also be returned as part of this fix, though there’s been no official word yet.

However, with EA continuing to make improvements based on player feedback and the delay to the new season, there appears to be some cautious optimism about the future of Battlefield 6. There’s certainly a lot of pressure on Season 2 to deliver, with many continuing to list out their wishlist of content, from larger maps, naval engagements, to potential returns of fan favorite locations from previous games in the franchise. Without much information to go on for Season 2, fans will have to wait a bit longer to see where EA and Battlefield Studios are going to be taking the game.
