City of Wolves Gets Big New Update and Price Drop

City of Wolves Gets Big New Update and Price Drop

Ahead of a new update, SNK reveals all the big changes and features coming to Fatal Fury: City of Wolves, bringing back a highly requested legacy feature, the return of Wolfgang Krauser, and a fairly big price drop for the base title. April 24, 2026, is a special date for SNK and Fatal Fury: City of Wolves, marking the one-year anniversary of the game’s launch. In an effort to help the fighting game reach a bigger audience, SNK is making some big moves for the future.

Despite releasing below the typical full AAA price, which included the Season 1 pass, Fatal Fury: City of Wolves unfortunately got off to a slow start at launch. In fact, many linked the game’s initial struggles to SNK CEO Kenji Matsubara ultimately stepping down from his position just a month after the game launched in full. However, the game has seemingly continued to slowly gain momentum in the months after, as SNK continued to update the game with new content and characters, leading to one of the biggest updates the game has ever seen for its one-year anniversary.

Best Characters for Beginners in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Ranked

For players who are new to fighting games or just new to Fatal Fury, these are the best characters to play in City of the Wolves.

The April 24 update will include the newest character to join during Season 2, former emperor Wolfgang Krauser von Stroheim, who was included as part of a previous Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves DLC leak. Originally debuting as the main antagonist in Fatal Fury 2, Krauser has also appeared in various King of Fighters games as well, but it has been a while since he’s been in a mainline Fatal Fury game. Krauser’s stage, Kaiser Hall, is also joining him, letting fans fight it out in a classic German-style concert hall in front of a large audience.

However, Version 2.0.1 also features a number of big content additions to the game, including a major user interface overhaul. For the latter, SNK has completely replaced the main menu with a new Mode Select option that comprises the three main access points: South Town Chronicles, Battle Coliseum, and the Menu Hub. Menu Hub is where players will find settings and customization options such as Gallery Mode and Color edit for adjusting character looks. Battle Coliseum is the spot to find all online and offline modes like Ranked, Versus, Missions, and Practice. Fighter’s Hub

The third section, Chronicles, is getting one of the biggest changes the game has seen. While players can get their Arcade fix and find Fatal Fury‘s Episodes of South Town campaign, Version 2.0.1 is adding a brand-new mode called Wolves’ Destiny. This game mode is narrative focused and fully voice acted, depicting how Krauser was able to return to South Town as well as his current feud with Kain R. Heinlein. Speaking of Kain, SNK is also giving the character an alternative outfit with black and blue being prominently featured on the new costume. Finally, this update also adds the highly requested Ring Out feature from Real Bout Fatal Fury on a new map called Second South Central, where a character can be knocked out of bounds into a subway train or even on top of it.

If all of that content wasn’t enough, SNK is giving consumers another big reason to jump into the game. Specifically, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is releasing a $19.99 base version of the game, the lowest price the game has ever seen. The base version comes with all the modes and characters that launched a year ago, without any of the DLC characters and stages. For those looking for a bit more, the Fatal Fury Season 1 pass can now be purchased as a standalone option for $14.99, alongside the Season 2 Pass at $19.99.
