A popular cozy game on Steam is coming to the Nintendo Switch in September. Because of its hybrid nature letting it be played in handheld mode and on the go, the Nintendo Switch console is pretty much perfect for cozy games. Perhaps more cozy games come to Steam first, as is the nature of indie game development, but many are best played on Nintendo Switch.
That’s obviously not to say that Nintendo is slacking in the first-party department when it comes to cozy games. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is considered THE cozy game by many fans, while Pokemon Pokopia shows how the cozy life-sim genre works in that beloved franchise. The new game in September isn’t as easily recognizable as those games, but it’s still well worth a wish list and cozy game fans’ attention.
Little Witch in the Woods is Coming to Nintendo Switch in September
Developer Sunny Side Up has announced that its cozy pixel art game Little Witch in the Woods is coming to the Nintendo Switch on September 16. It is uncertain if there will be any upgrades for the Nintendo Switch 2 version. For the uninitiated, Little Witch in the Woods is a cozy life sim game, first released in September 2025, that follows a young apprentice witch as she gathers materials, crafts potions, helps villagers, and goes about fishing, collecting creations, and decorating. As a life sim, there’s also a relationship system tied to the various villagers players meet.
Fit the 9 games into the grid.
Since its release on Steam in 2025, it has accumulated a 90% Very Positive review rating with nearly 5,000 reviews. The strong reception reflects the game’s focus on relaxing exploration, charming characters, and other slower-paced activities. For someone looking for a laidback game on Steam, it’s been a solid choice for the past year or so. It’ll no doubt play that same laidback cozy game role on Nintendo Switch, which should help anyone who wants to relax and play some video games.

Of course, September 2026 is an incredibly busy time for video games, and this cozy game jumping in just has the whole calendar bursting at the seams. September 2026’s video game releases, as of this writing, also include Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, Orbitals, Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Halloween, Marvel’s Wolverine, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, Kernel Hearts, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the Switch 2 version of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, and that’s not even everything.

The good news is that the Little Witch in the Woods is little, as the title describes. Like any good cozy game, Little Witch in the Woods easily fits into most video game rotations, so it’d be a good way to relax a little between the vampire RPG Blood of Dawnwalker, the open-world survival-crafting gameplay of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and the scares in Silent Hill: Townfall. Everyone needs a little downtime.
