Pearl Abyss released another new update for Crimson Desert, continuing its impressive streak of improving the game and adding new content for players to dig into. Part of the reason why Crimson Desert has seen plenty of player support since it launched back in March is due to Pearl Abyss making concentrated efforts to fix things that players didn’t like, add new content, and continue pushing quality of life improvements.
In fact, that methodology has been intentional. While most developers publish some sort of roadmap to give players a heads-up on what’s coming beyond the game’s launch, Pearl Abyss purposely chose not to do that. Crimson Desert adheres to a player-first update strategy, relying on feedback and watching how the game is being played to help identify places to focus on adding more content or applying fixes. Rather than following set-in-stone dates or presuming to know what the audience wants, Pearl Abyss has been reactive to players and the feedback they’ve gotten, resulting in rapid-fire patches that have not only been well received by the community, but have also served to strengthen the product.
How to Replay Boss Fights in Crimson Desert
See how much you’ve improved in Crimson Desert by fighting its many bosses again through the Rematch feature.
The latest update for Crimson Desert looks to continue that trend as the patch notes are now available to give fans a heads-up on exactly what is changing. The biggest part of the May 15 update expands upon Crimson Desert‘s Rematch feature, which was only recently added a couple of weeks ago. Essentially, Rematch allows players to challenge previously defeated bosses again, either as they were at the time or using the Resonate option to scale them up to the player’s current level. In addition, any consumable items used during the rematch are refunded to the player after the match is over, so there’s no risk in using resources.
In terms of this update, Pearl Abyss has expanded the functionality further. Essentially, even more bosses can be challenged using Rematch, including certain bosses previously found in the Abyss. It’s worth noting that Abyss bosses have been adjusted for the rematch to take place on land. Players can use the Bosses Memory Fragments from the Journal to discover the rematch locations for each eligible boss.

Outside of that, the update further improves the abilities for Crimson Desert‘s other playable characters, Oongka and Damiane. Players had previously noted that switching off Kliff didn’t feel as good because both Oongka and Damiane didn’t have nearly as many skills or abilities, especially the more powerful ones. Pearl Abyss heard the feedback loud and clear, and has continued to expand both character’s available options. This update allows Damiane to use new unarmed combat skills, while the pair now have access to an aerial stab move. Kliff can also use Blinding Flash Finisher while unarmed in combat.
While these updates have been positive and welcomed by the community, most still wonder when Crimson Desert might be getting something a bit more substantial. Thankfully, Pearl Abyss has revealed that it is working on DLC for Crimson Desert, though details on what it is will be shared once “concrete plans are set.” With how fast Pearl Abyss seems to work, it stands to reason that fans won’t have to wait too much longer to hear about what’s coming.
