Diablo 4 Season 14 already has some players seriously concerned about the upcoming content drop. While Season 14 isn’t set to start for a few weeks yet, the recently concluded 3.1 PTR for Diablo 4 has received some scathing feedback, indicating that Blizzard has some work to do to ensure it lives up to the popular Season 13.
The release of Diablo 4‘s Lord of Hatred expansion in April has led to a very strong period for the game. The expansion was extremely well received by players, who praised its significant changes to the endgame and the way it concluded the Age of Hatred saga. It provided a lot of positive momentum for the game, which many feel Season 14 will not be able to continue.

Diablo 4 Season 14 PTR Feedback Has Players Worried
Diablo 4‘s 3.1 PTR for the upcoming Season 14 ran between June 2 and 9, and feedback during and after from the community has been pretty brutal. One Reddit thread started by user EXIIL1M_Sedai claimed that the seasonal mechanic – Pandemonium Ruptures – are just “standing in circle, hoping to not get one shot and praying on your knees to RNGesus.” Many in the thread agreed with the sentiment, suggesting they’ll probably skip Season 14 if nothing changes regarding the seasonal mechanic. Some took issue with the fact that there doesn’t seem to be all that much new content on the way, while others had a lot of criticism for just how RNG-based the game may become in Season 14.

Part of the issue is that Diablo 4 Season 14’s main seasonal mechanic is based around a specific activity, rather than something that affects the game at all times. One of the best examples is Season 10’s Chaos Armor, which remains one of the most popular Diablo 4 seasonal mechanics to date. That affected how players would put together their builds and gave them alternatives that would affect every decision they made. Not every seasonal mechanic will be as popular as the last, but it does seem as though Season 14 may prove particularly unpopular with players.
The negativity towards the initial impressions of Diablo 4 Season 14 may partly be exacerbated by the enormous positivity surrounding Season 13. While there was no specific seasonal mechanic to speak of in Season 13, the popularity of the Lord of Hatred additions meant it was one of the most highly-praised seasons to date. Given that there was a slight sentiment that the new Warlock class was underwhelming among players, it’s all the more impressive that Season 13 was as popular as it was.
It’s worth remembering that the PTR is all about gathering feedback for planned Diablo 4 updates. The idea of holding them is that Blizzard receives a wide variety of feedback, which it can then use to improve the final product. So while feedback for the 3.1 PTR was negative, that doesn’t guarantee that Diablo 4 Season 14 will be a bust. It’s expected to launch on June 30, so Blizzard still has some time to refine the upcoming season and address negative feedback through important gameplay changes.
