Blizzard has officially announced Diablo: Legacy of Terror, giving fans plenty to look forward to starting November 13. The six-day event will run in Diablo 2: Resurrected, bringing “six days of spine-chilling threats and lucrative perks” to mark the start of Ladder Season 16.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is a 2021 remaster of Blizzard’s 2000 original. The developer has supported the game with several post-launch updates, most notably the Reign of the Warlock DLC, which added a new class for the first time in 25 years. Even with the majority of Blizzard’s live-service support going to new content for Diablo 4, it’s cool to see it find time for Diablo 2: Resurrected.

Diablo 2: Resurrected Legacy of Terror Event Announced for November 13

Blizzard is marking Diablo‘s 30th anniversary by announcing the new Legacy of Terror event for Diablo 2: Resurrected, detailing the upcoming update in a recent blog post. Legacy of Terror begins on November 13, coinciding with the launch of Ladder Season 16, and runs until November 19. However, it’s available for both Ladder and non-Ladder players – the full synopsis for the event is as follows:

Diablo’s 30th Anniversary in Diablo II: Resurrected brings Legacy of Terror, six days of spine-chilling threats and lucrative perks to launch your Season 16 Ladder experience like never before. This event is available for both Ladder and Non-Ladder players.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.

During the event, players can enjoy various “terrors and rewards.” On Hell difficulty, players can face the Diablo Clone once every six hours with a guaranteed spawn. When players defeat Baal on Normal, Nightmare, or Hell, that difficulty will have Terrorized Zones in all zones, though players can switch this off without affecting anything else in the Legacy of Terror event. Players can enter the Cow Portal in the Rogue Encampment at any time (after defeating Baal on any difficulty level). When monsters are slain during Diablo: Legacy of Terror, there’s a rare chance that they’ll be reanimated as Hell Bovine Minions, too. Lastly, players get 100% Magic Find and a 15% vendor discount throughout the event.

Blizzard recently released the patch notes for Diablo 2: Resurrected Ladder Season 16, which included a bunch of balance changes for Reign of the Warlock. It offers “a new opportunity for valiant adventurers to race to Level 99 and amass powerful loot along the way,” and like Legacy of Terror, it releases on November 13.

At BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard announced Diablo 5 for Spring 2029. The announcement of the sequel this early was somewhat surprising, with at least two and a half years before gamers can actually get their hands on the game. In the meantime, Blizzard will continue to support its existing titles, with all three of Diablo 2: Resurrected, 3, and 4 still getting new seasons on a regular basis.
