Though the games are launching in 2027 rather than this year, Pokemon Winds and Waves will no less be a celebration of 30 years of Pokemon, and now their Pokedex could already include over 100 Pokemon. 2026 marked the 30th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, which has been celebrated across multiple games, spin-offs, and releases, such as in-game events and special merchandise. According to leaks, Pokemon Winds and Waves were supposed to launch this year, but were moved to 2027 to let Game Freak flesh the games out even further.

Considering the backlash that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet got for their poor optimization, FPS, and performance in general, many fans are fine with waiting longer for a presumably more polished pair of games. While it’s bittersweet that Gen 10 won’t launch in time for the series’ milestone, Game Freak announced a new official Pokemon release for the 30th anniversary in the form of carefully curated art books with exclusive content, designs, and even interviews. For those waiting for Gen 10, though, the Pokedex is starting to take shape, and it includes up to 102 Pokemon already.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Officially Confirms Over 100 Pokemon for Launch

Among the Pokemon that are coming back in Pokemon Winds and Waves for sure are several Kantonian critters, multiple pocket monsters from the other early Japan-based generations, and some more recent ones. These were all shown in the official teaser trailer for Gen 10, and thus have their models already in the game. Some of these Pokemon were not included in the trailer, but they are pre-evolutions or evolutions of others that are in there, bringing the list to 54 confirmed in the Pokedex. These are:

Additionally, Galarian Corsola and its evolution, Cursola, are likely to be in the game since the base version of Corsola is, and they were absent in Gen 9, Legends: Arceus, and Legends: Z-A. Two more Pokemon that are basically confirmed are the box Legendaries for Gen 10, though they haven’t been revealed yet. Still, beyond the 54 confirmed Pokemon for Pokemon Winds and Waves, the trailer also features several other critters in drawings dedicated to each past generation. Though it’s not 100% confirmed that they will be in the games, it’s very likely that they will show up, as they were part of the trailer. The list includes 18, and then another 26 between pre-evolutions, evolutions, and regional forms. These are:

  • Eevee
  • Vaporeon
  • Jolteon
  • Flareon
  • Espeon

  • Lechonk
  • Oinkologne

  • Kilowattrel

Together with the initial 54, Galarian Corsola, Cursola, and the two box Legendaries, this list takes the final total to 102 Pokemon. Still, a recent Pokemon Winds and Waves leak confirms 3 new Pokemon, with other rumors suggesting there will be a Komodo Dragon, a flying fish, a seed-like Pokemon, and more. These are to be taken with a pinch of salt, for the time being, as no pictures or in-game designs have ever been revealed.

It’s likely that the next trailer for Gen 10 will show new critters, such as the 7 brand-new Pokemon leaked for Pokemon Winds and Waves months ago by reliable sources. This trailer has no confirmed release date, though, and leaks point to it being shown no sooner than Pokemon Day next year, which is February 27, 2027.
