Grave Seasons has just received a very encouraging update in the form of an official ESRB rating. In a new listing, the Entertainment Software Rating Board has branded Grave Seasons ‘M for Mature’, citing “Blood and Gore, Strong Language, [and] Violence” as reasons behind the 17+ rating.
Announced in May 2023, Grave Seasons is an upcoming Stardew Valley-like farming sim with a terrifying twist. Along with sowing seeds, harvesting crops, meeting residents, and sparking romances, Grave Seasons will put players at the heart of a gruesome murder mystery narrative, where they’ll have just one year to determine who’s committing a series of supernatural killings in the quiet but unsettling town of Ashenridge. There are over 30 residents in Grave Seasons, and each new playthrough will see a different killer picked from a pool of potential candidates. Each murderer has their own distinct killing styles, their own selection of targets, and their own campaign that leads to unique story events.
Grave Seasons Gets Official ESRB Rating
Following its initial announcement in May 2023, Grave Seasons received a gameplay trailer during Summer Game Fest 2025, where publisher Blumhouse Games announced a 2026 release window. That 2026 release window was then narrowed down this March to Summer 2026, and just a few weeks later, it was narrowed down further to August 14. Unfortunately, in June, developer Perfect Garbage announced that Grave Seasons was being delayed to Fall 2026 in order to provide a more polished experience across all platforms.

While there’s still no concrete release date for Grave Seasons, there’s just been an encouraging update that suggests fans won’t need to wait too long. Grave Seasons has just been given an official age rating from the ESRB. The upcoming horror farming sim has been given an ‘M for Mature’ rating due to violence, strong language, and blood and gore.
In its official listing, ESRB describes some of the mature content players will find in Grave Seasons. According to the ESRB, Grave Seasons will include murder scenes that “often depict bloody corpses,” and cutscenes that “involve ghoulish creatures slashing, biting, or viciously attacking people, with blood-splatter effects.” Victims of these brutal murders will sometimes appear decapitated, and there are reportedly still images that depict “severed heads and/or limbs.” The ESRB listing also details the “strong language” that players can expect to hear in Grave Seasons, stating that “the word “f**k” appears in the game.”
Though it’s not always the case, games are usually only given an official ESRB rating when development is near completion. If this is the case with Grave Seasons, then its previously stated Fall 2026 release window could still be accurate, which would put its release date sometime between the start of September and the end of November. Given that there’s just a week left of August, fans can likely expect an official Grave Seasons release window update very soon.
