How To Grow Plants In Subnautica 2 – Growbed Blueprint Location Guide

Are you curious about how to grow plants in Subnautica 2? Various types of alien flora can be collected and harvested for all sorts of use. However, you must first find an object known as a Growbed.

Subnautica 2 base guide – Growing plants via the Growbed

To unlock the Growbed, you need to travel quite far from your Lifepod. If you’re playing on Survival Mode, then we encourage you to check our mini-walkthrough, since it should help you find the blackbox signals that you should track.

Assuming you’ve already done some early-game tasks, you’ll learn of another location called the Tadpole Pens. Upon completing the objectives there, you’ll be told about another biome with an area called the Alien Ruins.

Growbed fragments location

The Subnautica 2 Growbed fragments are at the Research Station–i.e. the Alien Ruins marker. The location is approximately 1,300 meters east of the Lifepod or 720 meters east of the Tadpole Pens facility.

You need to scan two Growbed fragments for the blueprint. Fortunately, the structures are right next to each other. One is on the rooftop of the hab, and the other is on the ground just behind the building.

Growbed usage: Crafting materials

Once you’ve unlocked the Growbed in Subnautica 2, you’ll be able to build it on most flat surfaces, such as your base’s rooftop areas. Here’s the gist:

  • The Growbed requires the Habitat Builder tool. You’ll find it in the Cultivation tab.
  • Each Growbed costs just 1x Titanium.
  • You can place each plot separately, or you can expand the structure further to create a bigger plot.

What type of alien plants can you grow in Subnautica 2?

You can grow the alien plants listed below as long as you have the necessary resources:

  • Necrolei Cyst – 1x Necrolei Cyst
  • Cherimoya Rotsac – 1x Cherimoya Rotsac
  • Pent – 1x Pent
  • Macaron Sponge – 3x Fibrous Pulp
  • Mimic Pylon – 5x Fibrous Pulp and 4x Copper
  • Freesia Flower – 3x Fibrous Pulp
  • Acid Raion – 1x Medical Gel Sac
  • Cradle Shootroot – 1x Lucifer Rotsac

That does it for our guide on how to grow plants in Subnautica 2. The alien flora you harvest can then be used for all sorts of crafting recipes, such as those related to healing and food. Moreover, the pulp that you collect can be converted into fuel for your Bioreactor. Last but not least, since you’re already cultivating the land, you might as well unlock the Metal Farms, too.

Subnautica 2 is currently in early access, which means new biomes, systems, and story beats are expected to be added as part of updates. For everything you need to know about the game, you can visit our Subnautica 2 guides hub.
