How to Train EVs & Change Nature in Pokemon Champions

In Pokemon Champions, players can change the Nature and EV of their Pokemon by investing some Victory Points using the Training feature. But comparing it to other Pokemon games, the way EVs work is a bit different, so knowing how to train EVs, and which ones to prioritize is a must. What’s more, when recruiting new Pokemon, these don’t always have the ideal Nature with them, but trainers can still change it. This guide is a summary of how to train EVs and change the Nature of your Pokemon in Pokemon Champions.

The brand-new training system that The Pokemon Company has made for Pokemon Champions may benefit the Gen 10 Pokemon games as well.

How to EV Train And Change Natures in Pokemon Champions

To EV Train your Pokemon in Pokemon Champions, go to ‘Train’ in the Main Menu, then select the Pokemon you want to train (from the list on the left).

EV Training works with the following values: A total of 66 EV points, that can be distributed however players want. So, for example, as seen in the images above, Thyplosion has a distribution of 32 Sp. Atk, 32 Speed, and 2 HP. Each point allocated costs VP, and players can see the total amount needed next to the ‘Commence Training’ button at the bottom of the screen.

When a Pokemon has its EV spreads randomized (often happens when transferring Pokemon from other games), players can still correct this by using Victory Points (VP). Just add or subtract values from each stat until the EV Spread adjusts to your taste.

Nature is now called ‘Stat Alignment.’ Players can change it from the submenu on the bottom left side of the screen. Of course, changing the Nature also costs VP, so players need to be mindful and plan ahead to see which is the best Nature and EV Spread for their Pokemon.

Besides that, Stat Alignment works as Natures used to: Boosting one stat at the detriment of another. However, Pokemon Champion has eliminated some Neutral Natures (Docile, Hardy, Bashful, Quirky) and left Serious as the only Neutral option. That’s one of the major changes that Champions has brought to competitive play, so keep this in mind when training your Pokemon.
